Title: I have a series of questions regarding osteoporosis; I'd appreciate getting some

help on them.
(Note: Throughout these questions, every instant in which I say "post op" is me speaking in regard to trans women who have either undergone SRS or had an orchiectomy.)
1. When people say a post op trans woman is susceptible to getting osteoporosis should she (for some reason) discontinue HRT, do they mean it's guaranteed that she will, or just that it's likely?
2. How fast would osteoporosis happen to a post op trans woman if she discontinued HRT?
3. For post op trans women who do experience osteoporosis for discontinuing HRT, how often in those cases do severe cases occur? (Note: If there are no cases of a trans woman discontinuing HRT, then my question becomes "How often *would* severe cases of osteoporosis occur in cases of trans women stopping HRT?")
4. Is the experience of undergoing osteoporosis more extreme for a trans woman than it would be for a cis person?
Thank you.

There are several risk factors for osteoporosis, one of which is inadequate sex hormones, E or T. Bone density before stopping hormones would also influence the answer. So, I don't think you can get to the specific numbers you are looking for.

Welcome to Susan's Place. Some people are susceptible to it and others are not. I was off HRT for 10 years without harmful effects while others can have issues in much less time. In my case, I was aware of the risk so I included plenty of dairy, a calcium supplement tablet and vitamin D in my diet to reduce the risk. You will also have fun with menopause symptoms such as hot flashes and sweat sessions. You should consider having bone density scans to monitor the calcium loss and if it is excessive the doctor may put you on other medication that has far more side effects than HRT. Last but not least, without HRT, fat will relocate from desirable places to less desirable places. The relocation is the primary reason why I am back on HRT again.

Thank you Deborah and Dena for answering.
I'd like more answers, though, so please, anyone who can also help, do so.
Thank you.
