Title: You know you are going to the pharmacy too much when
Post by: KarynMcD on July 29, 2016, 04:02:07 PM
you walk in and they just hand you your prescription without asking your name.

My prescriptions are out of synch, so I'm going like twice a month now.

:D

lol, so are mine, I need to go 3 times a month, and they all became very nice to me, after a few shocks at first, but they are not yet to the point of knowing I don't want to pronounce my own name, I hand them the card to scan to get to my files, but I feel it's coming soon, then I'll point out there are 2 complete different names on the prescription, the 2nd one being the one I'd like to hear (that's my doctor, pushing things)

I joked with our pharmacy tech a few weeks ago when i changed my meds over to them (dropped former company)...So now you know everyone's dirty little secrets, she smiled said yes, and we can't talk about them. She just asks for which first name. All my family is now at same place...4 out of 8.

I use a small town, locally owned pharmacy which is actually busier than the chain pharmacy a block away.  The woman who used to work the counter for many years and knew everyone's name retired and now you have to give them your name although one of the women is starting to learn our last name.  I'm sure it's going to get confusing in a couple of months.  LOL

When the pharmacists and techs consider you a friend.

Due to a TBI I was in my pharmacy 2-3x/week for two years. When I had my legal name change the entire staff was congratulating me and celebrating.

So nice when things aren't awkward!

The pharmacy I go to is connected to primary care which treats thousands of trans. So they ask for your last name and then you enter your phone number. I go to my PCP August 15 and I will have them change my chart and insurance to my new name. Also. I will have my scripts put in my new name. I can not wait to go the pharmacy and I can use my first name :) They know me there. I am on 7 trans related scripts including my needles and syringes. So they know me because I am there every 2 weeks due to scripts not sinking up.

I live In a small town where knows everyone else. It is a surprise when the pharmacy (there is only one) asks anything.
