Title: Transition Beginning

I have been to a therapist who has sent a letter to a doctor stating that I am transgendered. Now I have an appointment with a doctor. The therapy session was straightforward. I just told my life story of struggling with having a woman trapped inside me, and most of the time, not knowing that was really true. It has all come together for me over the last month or so. Now I have an appointment with a doctor, actually a Nurse Practitioner, next Thursday at 10 am. We are going to discuss low dose HRT, which is what the therapist recommended. I will post as things develop. I am excited and looking forward to starting.

Congratulations, enjoy the ride. It has been 10 weeks since my therapist sent "The Letter" and 6 weeks since beginning hrt. It has been both wonderful and scary at the same time and I would not give it up for anything! Enjoy all of the magic moments and please share your experiences. Anne

Congratulations! I am super excited for you! I just got my blood work done and this coming monday, if all my labs look ok, i should be getting my scripts for hrt. The nurse practitioner i am seeing is an openly trans-woman, but it is super hard to tell that she was anything but utterly female. I kind of wished that she did not come-out to me as she didn't need to and now my expectations of what hrt can do are much higher. With that said, i guess she had her reasons.

Congrats!
I have my 6 (ish) cycle blood work coming up soon. It's been a wild ride so far full of ups and downs. I have been thankful for a supportive wife and therapist!

Congrats! Your have taken a big step with therapy. Lots of exciting times ahead! HRT impacts us all differently. Some women find big changes come quickly and others, such as me, it is a mixed bag! Be patient, enjoy the development as you walk along your journey.

The doctor's visit was incredible. They were very nice and supportive. Took blood and I left with a prescription for Estrace and Aldactone. Took the first pills tonight. It was a lot more relaxed and patient oriented than I thought it would be. I emailed the therapist and thanked her for recommending them!

Well the journey now officially begins, last session with the therapist today and recommendation from her for the HRT going forward. Blood work is done, decision for the patch for delivery. Came home and sat down with my wife and discussed everything from the positive and the negative that could occur, told her that I would not do this without her by my side. Emotions, from both of us, and now it continues, elated and scared all at the same time.

I have now been taking spiro and estradiol pills for a week. Take them morning and before I go to bed. I have noticed my skin feels softer and my sense of touch seems to be enhanced. Also my breasts started hurting today and my beard seems slightly lighter when I shave. I knew that all this would happen but didn't think it would happen so fast! The doctor has me taking medication like this for another week and then the estradiol dose doubles and I am supposed to stay on that level of spiro and estradiol until my next appointment in November. I have been sensitive to pills my entire life. I only have to take one aspirin or tylenol for a headache and one benedryl about knocks me out. I wondering what my response will be when I double the estradiol dose! I am going to just continue for the next three months, (next appointment is in November) like the doctor said to, and see where I end up. I will post again when I notice changes.

Hi Brenda, it is really fun to hear you talk through these big steps. The excitement and sense of wonder is evident in your words. I am in week 8 of hrt and enjoying many of the things you are. Watching or feeling the small things are so amazing; the softer skin, changes in skin oils, I was amazed when I noticed that my body smelled different. I want to give you a warning to expect some emotional hits. I had heard about them and thought I knew what was coming but wow! They roamed from exuberant joy of whimsy to sobbing compassionate empathy, way beyond expectations. They floored me and I loved every moment of them. They just scared both me and my wife a bit. Now I look forward to more.
Enjoy the ride,
Anne

Anne, Thanks for giving me the information about the emotions. I have always been real sensitive to begin with and have been a man who sometimes would cry in certain emotional situations. I suspect after next week when I double the E dose that things will start changing faster. I like what is happening, and you were right, I am excited about it. I feel more relaxed, possible since the Spiro has lowered my blood pressure some. (another advantage of taking the hormones)It is also nice not having a dick as my boss! What a relief to have things much quieter down there! Very relieving.
