14 Falsehoods A Fake Pediatrician Group Relies On To Attack Transgender Kids

Earlier this year, the American College of Pediatricians (ACP) issued a position statement rejecting transgender kids. Now, the fake medical organization that exists solely to oppose abortion and LGBT equality — not to be confused with the legitimate American Academy of Pediatricians — has published a more extensive manifesto denying the reality that some kids are transgender and benefit from being respected in those identities.

ACP's thesis is founded on false statements that begin appearing by the second sentence of the document. . . .

This is a very good article that applies to both kids and adults.  It's worth reading in its entirety.

It also highlights the problem with the American conservative movement.  Their beliefs are so far removed from any grounding in reality that they can rely on nothing anymore to support their arguments beyond the misrepresentation and often outright denial of existing science.  If an ideology requires this amount of deception to survive then that ideology is indeed bankrupt and should be relegated to the waste bin of stupidity.

Reason #3 why I fled the conservative movement.

You know what I dislike most; is when groups use similar naming to confuse; while no doctor would be confused, I'd hope (their existence being dependent on memorizing thousands of similar sounding widgets); Bob Smith wouldn't have a clue which is legit and which isn't; and even if he took it a step further to look for supporting journal reference, could easily forget which one was which between the time of being curious and the time of looking.

Its a hideously evil practice.

And yeah, you're really beating up on my lingering attachments to conservatism.   I really do oppose a lot of the public policy objectives of the liberal side, but dang...

I used to be an arch conservative myself voting for Reagan in my first election and for the Bushs three times.  But the party has changed a lot since then.  Reagan made a deal with the devil in the coalition he gathered together in the party.  What was a minor voice in policy making in the 1980s has now taken control.

The Republican Party still has the name but they have abandoned all they once stood for.

I probably come across as an arch liberal now but a more accurate identification would be anti-Republican.  It's just that the most effective way of fighting them is to join the Democrats for now.

You'll have to read the name of the organization CAREFULLY before signing up to do anything or to check up on their validity, as in this case. These front organizations are out to get your money or your opinions to make things harder for a group of people. These organizations get enough support then they will lobby to the politicians. I've been bombarded with a lot of mail and phone calls lately for money for the poor or sick or to lobby for something or another with organization names all over the spectrum that sound like the more 'legitimate' organizations. I am getting more of these calls than I get from the politicians! It is an election year!

Isn't it trademark infringement to choose a deliberately similar name? I thought it was.

These people deliberately obfuscate who they really are by choosing names that are either very close to another, well recognized name, or they choose an innocuous sounding name that makes you think that they have respectable goals.

They should know better - as "doctors" they are well acquainted with scientific research methods and they know full well what the science is saying, but yet the deception continues. They deceive for personal gains - for money, for fame, or for power, and they harm innocent people in the process. They are hucksters and con men of the worst kind. They have dishonored the Hippocratic oath that they took when they started on the journey to be doctors.

I think that eventually the deception is going to catch up with them. In the words of Walter Scott - O, what a tangled web we weave when first we practice to deceive.

A fact that is perhaps not well known, the "oath", is optional.

QuoteThe problem is that this claim ignores a substantial amount of research that found that there are very much biological components to transgender identities. Researchers at Boston University School of Medicine reviewed this research last year and concluded unequivocally that "there is a biological basis for transgender identity."

I recently watched a show on the National Geographic channel about transgenders.  One point they made was that transgendered people have brains that are closer to that of the gender they believe they are, than what they were born with.  There has been plenty of other evidence over the years that proves this.

I believe FAKE information is the hallmark in the political parties these days. Fake statements spewing from president Trump, from his cabinet on down to outrageous supposed news sites that post nothing but lies on all subjects. It boggles my mind when I see so many believing the obvious lies.
Truth, justice and the American way has been lost in the rhetoric.

The problem isn't so much the fake news as it is the utter credulity of the American people.

Our school system has failed in its purpose to teach people to think critically.

I recall reading, a few years ago, that the Texas Republicans were opposed to teaching critical thinking in schools.  Add to that religion, where they try to pass off fairy tales as reality and you have a situation where "false news" can flourish.
