Title: Terri-Gene
Post by: Susan on January 24, 2006, 09:50:54 PM

QuoteToday, Terri-Gene suffered a major stroke and is currently in extremely critical condition and is on a respirator in the hospital. Please pray for her. Terri has been my life for the past 26 years and my prayers are for 26 more at least. Please be advised that any duties she currently has in connection with the board will have to be at least temporally reassigned.
Sadly,
Andrea
Make sure you all pray for her. I will let you know any changes in her condition as I know them! Normally I don't announce topics. However, this is a special case! Terri-Gene can use all the good will and best hopes we can give her!

Though I'm relatively new here, I quickly have grown fond of Teri-Gene's posts and responses. She always seems smart, direct and helpful. I've even occassionaly thought, as I'd write something, "I wonder what my similar-namesake will think of this." I'd noticed that I hadn't seen any new posts from her lately and am distressed to hear the terrible news. I know that people can and do recover from strokes but know it can be a difficullt road. My father had a stroke and I could sense his frustration whenever I saw him. I'll hope and pray the best for our friend, Teri-Gene.
Hugs to her.

We all are getting older...and I mean most of us here at Susans.org. We all are pushing it....like Terri-Gene did. She did it for a reason, a reason we all know.
On a positive note....a stroke is recoverable. But many of us are getting older and it is what we have to deal with.
I also wish her the best...we have argued, debated and realized we are both on the same side. It is VERY cool for you Andrea to let us know. I have been online in the tg-Internet world since 96 and have wondered and worreied about many of my past tg sisters who quit posting...without ever knowing.
Susan.....please print out this forum and send it to her...so she knows we all are thinking about her.
love to terri-gene
DebTV
PS maybe we could male a forum....for others to tell us what happened. For example...if I had a stroke....my woman knows I visit here and have many friends. If I told her to post about me...if I could not...she would.
PSS or maybe some other way to know....I'm not sure since we all are so private,alone/afraid. :(

:'( Iv'e been sitting here staring at this announcement for some 25 minutes now. Words can not express my sadness at this news. Teri has been a good friend and sister both to me and this forum. I know if she recovers(and I pray she does) it will be a long road to recovery and longer still I suspect before she will be able to post here again. I take comfort in knowing that Teri is a fighter and that her spouse and her children will be at her side. Know, Andrea that we are there with you if only in spirit. Please keep us posted on any further developments. :'(

Leigh, Terri and I were just chatting together a couple of days ago and as with strokes she gave no indication that there was anything wrong. In fact she had just returned from a trip. I am absolutely stunned.
My heart goes out to Terri and her family. I truly hope that Terri pulls through all this. While I do not know her as well as others here, I know that from the first time I had the pleasure of chatting with her I have become quite fond of her. She is a tremendously strong lady who I know needs the strength of our support and our prayers.

Susan:
Thank you for alerting me to a sisters plight.
I pray Terri finds relief with her condition. If it is her time i know she will always be with us anyway. When i hear of some of our family passing it lets me know that they are now above trying to help and guide us in all we do. What is most important is that we listen when the voicesinourheads/spirits above/God/Jesus/and others talk to us.
Does anyone here remember sheri chi from chicago or ferngally both who passed on a few years ago. They are with me still. I knew them both from Gazebo on AOL. Even though they died under different circumstances natural death verses suicide their lives have affected me in a positive way.
I remember some of Terri Jean but i do know she is a long time Susan's place forum user and i do know she stands out in my mind as someone who stood strong about her support for others.
Dearest Lord you know Terri's fate and time and well may we learn to accept that which happens and may we carry on and care and share in a positive way wether its Terri's time now or later.
Again Thank you susan for your email notice.
bye love Danielle
PS: To everyone i know and those i don't know, let me tell you i love you as a sister's and brother's because you are my only family. ( My blood family did reject me)
NOTE: Lately, I have been busy helping others outside of the TG world and i don't get to interact with many TG/TS anymore (in real life) However, i have a heart for all my brothers and sisters.

I'm stunned and dismayed beyond reason!
Terri-Gene's posts, of all on this forum, while sometimes longer than what I wanted to read, have been some of the most helpful to me. Her direct common sense has been a beacon towards which I aspire.
I send my thoughts and prayers to Terri-Gene and her family and sincerely hope that it be God's will to keep her with us for a long time to come.

Andrea,
I am deeply saddened by this sudden turn of events. Terri-Gene has taught me a lot in the short time that I have been here. She "shoots straight from the hip" and always tells it like it is. I've always admired her courage and wisdom. Veronica and I are praying for her to pull through this. Like others have said, if anyone can she can. She is a woman of tremendous character and strength. Our thoughts are with you and your family at this most difficult time.
Love,

Terri-
I would like you to know that since i have come to this site you have been one of the warmest, most sincere people i have met here. In just a few months I came to look forward to your responses on certain "touchy" subjects, knowing that your opinions were concise, well-informed and never candy-coated.
A few months ago when I had a relapse you were there to listen to my rant and cared enough to threaten me, saying that anything the drugs could do to me was nothing compared to what you would do if I didn't quit doing them. You gave me a shoulder to lean on, you patted my back with one hand and smacked me with the other. I greatly appreciated your words of comfort and advice...not to mention your scolding.
Since thanksgiving we have made tentative plans twice to meet while you were in the area. Unfortunately circumstances prevented us from meeting both times, the last time being just this past weekend.
I deeply regret that are paths have not crossed as yet, but you can bet they will missy cuz you're going to get better. You are much too determined (not to mention stubborn as a darn ox) to let something like this stand in between you and your goal.
I thank you for the strength you have made me realize I possess, the listening ear you have lent, not to mention you're all too precious time. When you get better I will thank you in person so that you know without a doubt just how much you have come to mean to me.
I wish you a speedy and full recovery. This world is not done with you.
with best wishes for you and your family
Gina
P.S. this stroke thing is nothing compared to what I will do if you don't hurry back. :'(

Since I have come here, I have always been impressed by your straightforward, no nonsense approach, your very sensible advice.
I was reading one of your excellent posts and was in the process of applauding you, when it suddenly struck me that it was you, who are laid low :( that struck me with the force of a blow
Terri please get better, I want very much to see you up & around, to read your posts again
I know you will recover, please don't take too long
I pray for your speedy recovery

I now understand why Terri seent so much of her time on this board. Your post have truly touched my heart. According to the doctors she has suffered a massive bleed in the upper left quadrant of the brain. This area controls the ability to speak and respond. She is aware enough to kiss me and not try it with the nurses :) - but that is about all at this point. They plan on keeping her in ICU for the next day or so. As to the future they do not know..I am sure that Terri will enjoy your cards so if you will e-mail me directly I will be happy to give you our home address.
Thanks again to ALL -
Sincerely,
Andrea

Terri;
I didn't find out until late last night. When I read the news, I felt a sickening shock run through me. I was speechless and couldn't reply until this morning.
We'd just met. And we'd talked about so many different topics, not just trans issues. I told you I could see your inner pain. But (and I didn't tell you this then,) I could also see your inner courage.
You've offered to be my local guide as I transition, kind of a big sister to me. I want you here to guide me. At heart, you're a fighter -- you won't give up. And that gives me great hope that we WILL see each other again. May your recovery be a speedy one;
Haz

Terri-Gene,
I, like others, have learned alot in my interactions with yu. Get well soon I enjoy those interactions even though we often disagree. May our paths cross again many times through all the many worlds we traverse. Someday I hope to meet yu in person even though we are now a continent apart.
With much luv,

I went to Terri and Andrea's Apartment today.
Andrea needed several hugs - this has been very trying on her. She supports her spouse...
We went to the Hospital - Andrea, their granddaughter, and me.
Terry is still there, she had a surprised look in her eyes, seeing me standing there, but she's unable to talk. She had a feeding tube inserted, and would from time to time fade out during our visit.
There's a lot of damage -- she tried to speak several times, but no words came out.
Andrea did most of the talking, rubbing Terri's arms and legs and saying 'I love you', 'You have to fight this' and such, over and over. Terri responded to this.
Andrea delivered cards from PeggyAnn, Kelly, Kimberly and Valerie. They're sitting on the whiteboard in Terri's private roon right now. I gave Terri a stuffed animal -- a bulldog I bought at Toys'r'us -- a reference to something she mentioned in a PM to me. She kept squeezing it during our visit.
Terri looked out the window several times during our visit -- I got the feeling she wanted to escape her current condition, and that she was very depressed because of her condition and what it meant to her transitioning.
Before I left her room, I told her it sucks to not be able to communicate. She locked eyes with me, and was grinning (as much as she could.)
I'm convinced Terri is there. She's trapped by her stroke. She's depressed because of what her stroke means to her transition.
I don't know how much she can understand. But the fact that she kept looking at the bulldog stuffed animal I gave her and the fact that from time to time she had a spark in her eyes gave me an idea. I talked it over with Andrea.
Can you construct a collage for Terri? Fill it with images that somehow convey the feelings you want to communicate to Terri. Images of healing, of recovery, of prayer and thoughts directed at Terri encouraging her overcoming this ordeal? Andrea also told me Terri likes imagery of dragons and other things from Dungeons & Dragons. Design it to fit 8 x10 paper and send it both to Andrea and to me at
friend@wjsavage.com
One way or another, we'll get them printed out and delivered to Terri.
And what about other stuffed animals such as unicorns and mermaids -- animals symbolic of crossing gender boundaries? Can you send Andrea a stuffed animal that conveys your wishes for Terri's recovery?
I'm just trying to find a way to communicate with Terri that we want her to LIVE - a way of communicating that sidesteps the areas in her mind where the circuit-breakers are tripped or, worse, the circuitry may be burned out. Terri's recovery will likely be slow. But we need to give her the impetus -- the reason -- to fight and recover.

Thank you Hazumu,
I'm glad to hear you were able to go with Andrea to the hospital I had recieved and emai saying she wasn't able to go that day because of looking after her grandaughter. I'm glad you are close enough there to be supportive. The phone calls we share are not the same as being able to give her the hugs she needs at this point.
Thank you so much for the update on Terri-Gene as well. I to am convinced she is in there and I know she can understand most of what is said to her from what you relate and what Andrea shares with me. That is why it's important to give her communication from us all and help ignite her burning desire to communicate. Your collage is a good Idea as are the stuffed anilmals.
I remember one patient I worked with in the early stages after a stroke that had received a "Mister Giggles". He took to this for some unknown reason and showed it to everyone and worked hard at pressing the button to make this new found friend giggle off and on all day. It was just a week or so later the patient started doing more to communicate. The road was then underway and he made leaps and bounds of improvement. He now has returned to his normal life and family that loves him. he has no remaining handycaps from this ordeal and looks at each new day as a gift. His recovery and retraining time took 6 almost 7 months. He shares with everyone how he was in there and could understand and how hard it was not to convey his messages. How he loved getting the cards and letters because they would push him to try to communicate. He said the written word from others was strong in pushing him to want to reply.
So there is much we can do in this area for Terri-Gene and Andrea.
Smiles,
Peggiann

This may sound geeky, but I would like to offer a suggestion as to how Terri can communicate with the world.
Morse Code.
She can tap it into someone's hand or arm.
It gives her a practice using her body (fingers).
It exercises her brain twice. Once for answering questions. Once for translating her throughts into dits and dahs.
If Terri is ex-military, she may already know Morse.
Terri hears everyone around her. She has GOT to be going loco with the inability to communicate back. This could offer her some immediate hope of rejoining the world instead of being trapped inside her body.
Just a thought...

There is a light!! - Terri has been much more alert the past 2 days and is responding with understanding. Keep up the prayers and good thoughts. She is responding to the cards and colleges I have brought to her today and yesterday with a special half smile. She was attempting to try and speak though not clear it is such an improvement and has provided me with a much needed upllift of spirit. My sincere thanks to all of you for your kind words of encouragement. I can not express what a special place each one of you has in my heart.

My mother had several strokes and recovered from them. She cooperated with the speech therapist and was able to regain her speech. She lived until her 85th birthday. Not bad at all! Hang in there Terri and family! Keep positive thoughts! Terri is a fighter!

Hello to all,
I hope this little quote expresses how I feel for all of you!!
My heart-felt thanks,
Andrea
Just up the road from my house is a field with two
horses in it.
From a distance, each looks like every other horse.
But if you stop your car, or are walking by, you
will notice something quite amazing.
Looking into the eyes of one horse will disclose that
he is blind. His owner has chosen not to have him put
down, but has made a good home for him. This alone is
amazing.
If nearby and listening, you will hear the sound of a
bell. Looking around for the source of the sound, you
will see that it comes from the smaller horse in the
field. Attached to her bridle is a small bell. It
lets her blind friend know where she is, so he can
follow her.
As you stand and watch these two friends, you'll see
how she is always checking on him, and that he will
listen for her bell and then slowly walk to where she
is, trusting that she will not lead him astray. When
she returns to the shelter of the barn each evening,
she stops occasionally and looks back, making sure her
friend isn't too far behind to hear the bell.
Like the owners of these two horses, God does not
throw us away just because we are not perfect or
because we have problems or challenges. He watches
over us and even brings others into our lives to help
us when we are in need.
Sometimes we are the blind horse being guided by the
little ringing bell of those who God places in our
lives. Other times we are the guide horse, helping
others see.
Good friends are like this..........You don't always
see them, but you know they are always there.

I just got off the phone with Andrea. I'm going over tomorrow (Sunday) to meet with Andrea and two of Andi and Terri's (grown) children, then we're all going over to see Terri.
I'm posting this in case you'd like to send me pictures to be printed out. I've got a supply of glossy inkjet paper I'll donate to the project. Beth, your picture is printed and ready for delivery, and Andi says Terry'll love it ;). I've already printed out two other pictures that way, and they're hanging on the wall in Terri's room.
After the visit, I'll post another update so you can be as close to Terri as possible.

About 11 am we arrived at Terri's room at the hospital. Terri was sitting up in a chair, but still tied to the various bits of 'plumbing' you often find attached to patients in the hospital.
I brought Beth's pictures, a note from Chaunte, and a quick composition I did with Kimberly's old avatar and some pictures of hugging I snatched off Google Images. All are either on the wall of Terri's room or in the envelope where personal cards and letters to Terri are kept. BTW, the picture Cassandra provided and the composition I did from pictures Jillieann selected are also on the wall (nice of the hospital to provide a roll of tape so we could post all the pictures ;) )
There were myself, Andrea, a son, Dale, a daughter Michelle, and a granddaughter Maraiah (5), all packed inside that small room. What can I say about Terri's condition? It's a lot better than last Saturday, though Terri won't win any beauty contests (is it a rule that patients in hospitals must look like $#!^?.) Terri was more alert for longer periods, and was able to answer 'yes' or 'no' to direct questions, but her attention span is still short, and her focus wanders. Andrea said the neurologist said this is typical at this stage of recovery.
I took one of the free purple plastic gloves in the room, thinking I would do a Howie Mandel, but the material that glove was made of was not as stretchy as latex, so I ended up inflating it like a balloon. Tying the 'neck' though, was difficult. I tried for a while, Andrea tried to show me how it was done (but couldn't...) then I finally got it. Terri found this activity interesting. I drew eyes and a mouth around the thumb 'nose', and Maraiah giggled at the 'chicken' I'd made.
Maraiah and I started batting the improvised balloon around. Occasionally it would end up in Terri's part of the court and she would try to catch it or bat it away. I asked Terri if I should include her in the game, and she answered 'no', which got a surprised look and then a smile out of Andrea. Progress!
The stroke also interfered with Terri's legs. Michelle dod some range of motion exercises with Terri's legs, and asked Terri if it hurt. Terri answered 'no', and shook her head. They should be starting physical therapy for her legs within a week or two.
On a previous visit, someone brought Terri a book to read, but it was an adult book with many words and few pictures. Andrea said Terri would need something with more pictures and fewer words for a while. Not necessarily childrens' books, but something easier to comprehend, with less and simpler text. I mentioned that Dr Seuss had actually written a few books in the style of Dr Seuss but aimed squarely at adults, such as "Oh, the Places You'll Go!"
After a bit, I got an idea. I'd been noticing that Terri's hand motions and motor control were more lively and precise than I'd noticed during the previous visit. I looked about the room for a LAN port. NADA. I asked Terri if she'd like to use a laptop computer. Terri appeared interested, but I'm not sure what to make of her reaction -- perhaps desire mixed with the belief/fear that a computer would be wasted on her at this point in her recovery... I just don't know.
We bid our goodby's (Terry was hard to hug, sitting in that chair,) and made our way back to the parking lot.
Dale said he had a laptop he wasn't using. It works, but needs an external keyboard. It should be adequate for wordprocessing duties. Terri should be able to at least hunt-and-peck with it.
Andrea said they were talking of moving Terri to some form of convalescent facility soon ('when' isn't known, just 'soon'.) She also said the neurologist had said it will take Terri 6 months to a year to adequately recover from the strokes. I got the feeling everybody was getting ready for that long slog to recovery.
Please keep your cards, letters, wishes, etc., coming. They do brighten Terri's days, and will help speed her recovery.

That's the main thing along with this possitive improvement of speech and movements. When the swallowing is accomplished they may skip the convelesant Center and move to the rehabilitation center. That would be great!

She speaks in complete sentences! All the tubes are removed! She's eating soft foods!
Wow! What a change a week makes! I wish I'd brought a camera -- Terri is as presentable as one would ever get after having been in the hospital for 3 or 4 weeks.
This visit was a joy, and we actually spoke a bit. I told Terri that the members of Susan's Place are rooting for her, and in their thoughts and prayers. She appreciated that.
But Terri is not completely recovered yet. Lucid moments were interspersed with retreats into a bit of a mental fog. This is normal and understandable at this stage in her recovery. Also her legs aren't working well, her fine motor skills are still reduced, and the volume of her voice is really low. These are some of the areas the rehabilitative therapists will need to work on.
We chatted a bit about the lack of fashion (and comfort) in hospital gowns. Terri said they exchanged them every so often, but she had no choice in the new one -- she got whatever they brought.
Terri took a phone call from one of her daughters and chatted for a bit, seeming brightened by the conversation. Mostly Terri talked with Andrea about this'n'that -- I tried not to eavesdrop on this conversation.
Andrea said that they'd be moving Terri to a rehabilitation facility in Vallejo, California, as soon as a bed became available. (Vallejo is 70 miles from Sacramento...) Terri didn't feel the distance was that great, but Andrea complained that she wouldn't be able to visit every day when Terri was moved there.
I asked Terri if she was up to using a laptop computer yet. This was one of those fuzzy moments, and Terri seemed unsure of how to answer the question. I continued that it would give her something to do, that it would provide practice at typing and writing, and it would help relieve the boredom. At this (boredom,) Terri admitted that her stay in the hospital was mostly boring.
Sorry, I forgot to check the cards envelope for any new get-well cards. Terri did have one new stuffed animal in the bed with her -- a gift from one of Susan's Place members.
After we left (their granddaughter Moraiah was getting restless, as only 5-year-olds can,) I asked Andrea if they'd be able to get Terri a laptop. She said that Dale's laptop wasn't working, and that she (Andrea) had looked on eBay, but the prices she'd seen are too steep. Andrea thought that at Terri's rate of progress, she'd be able to really use a laptop in a month or two.
This from me (Haz). Is there any way we can pool donations to get Terri a used but working laptop? It doesn't have to be all that fast, or have all the latest bells and whistles. But it should handle wordprocessing and be able to be hooked up to a LAN, assuming a LAN is available at the rehabilitation center. I could donate $25...
Haz

It may take a little more time but a post office box would be perfect to send donations and keep secure at the same time.
Let me know where to send it and I'll give what I can.

Gee -- flashbacks to my military days -- I've been volunteered... ;)
I'll volunteer to collect and manage the donations, with a couple of caveats up front.
I can't access Susan's from work -- the military has blocked the site (and after all, Cassie has declared her candidacy for the office of President of the United States -- how much more subversive can you get? >:D )
I'm not completely set up to accept mail under my new name (I have to add my new name to the list of authorized recipients at the mail-box service I use -- it's on my to-do list,) and I'm not comfortable posting my old name (and address) here on Susan's.
But I can access my personal e-mail from work, and can send you the name'n'address that way. PM's also get through because I get an e-mail whenever you PM me...
If you'd like to help in another way, we need to find an inexpensive-but-good laptop to buy (or bid on.) eBay is another blocked site at work <sigh>. If you (and I mean the plural 'you' -- many can help here...) If you can find prospective laptops and post links to them (perhaps in a separate topic?)
Sorry for being abrupt, but I have to run -- I'm right on the cusp of being late for work :(

Maybe you can set up some sort of Paypal donation link Haz. Also, if somebody has an old unused laptop, that they could send, that would probably work. If I had a faster laptop, I'd send my current one, but it's all I have.

Actually you don't need a link. You can send money to anyone who has a PayPal account. You can set one up that displays any username you want and people with PayPal accounts can just send how ever much they want to that account. That should protect annonymity. You can also get a debit card which will allow easy access to the money when you have enough to get Teri a laptop.

Hi Haz,
Thankyou for letting Terri know we care and thanks for what you're doing. Given what you are going through persoanlly all I can say is that you are one special lady.
I don't know if you have considered the international flavour of Susan's but as you know I'm from downunder so whatever solution you come up with I would need to send by mail. I'm sure there are others in this boat and I also appreciate the fact that your uncomfortable with posting your old name so correspondence through PM or email to obtain whatever the solution is would be fine with me.

I just heard from Andrea. She is just so pleased. The Dr.s have desided that because she has made so much progress they will not be moving her to the rehab center. They are allowing her to go home and they'll send in therapist and help for the rehab in the home instead. Andrea says "Is't this just the GREATEST NEWS!!!!!!"

Terri is HOME - no rehab hospital - is walking, talking and is gaining memory daily - they will continue various therapies at home on a regular schedule and Terri does have a way to go in regaining all her memories, stabilty and sight (words slur together when she reads) but she has made remarkable strides this past week. Hopefully she will be back with you all soon. I can not thank each of you enough for all the cards, animals, prayers, and best wishes you have given us. YOU ARE SPECIAL!

I showed up at Terri and Andrea's place at around 1 pm today (Sunday 26 Feb), after a quick trip to the Target around the store to get munchies.
Andrea goaded Terri to get up off the couch so she could sit next to her spouse. Terri looked much better than I'd seen her in previous visits to the hospital (hospital gowns and lack of hair washing can make anyone look like $#!^... ::) )
Terri was wearing a maroon (or burgundy -- I'm color-deaf) top and jeans, and appeared relaxed. She's still not out of the woods (and admitted as much) but again, I saw much improvement compared to last week. I asked Terri if she'd seen this topic. Terri said that she'd looked at Susan's Place since returning home, but as her vision was still affected, she couldn't read the postings unless she set the font size really big. She also tended to move in slow motion -- sitting down, reaching for a coke or a bag of Chex Mix, etc. (I think we've all had days like that ;) ), but Terri'll probably be moving like this for at least another month...
She also said that as the bleed had been in the left side of her brain, she had difficulties with controlling her right side. (this was a rather long exposition from Terri -- a very good sign.) Also her voice volume wasn't very much above a whisper (not good for me, as I've got enough hearing loss to get money from the VA :-\ ). 3 or 4 times during my visit, Terri slowly got herself up and made her way carefully to the kitchen and get another coke (or whatever) from the fridge. I commented that this was part of the healing and rehabilitation process.
I told her of the outporing of support from Susan's Place members. She said she'd seen the 7 page (or is it 8 now) thread, but hadn't been able to read it because she still had problems with her vision.
Terri and Andrea's granddaughter, Moriah, did her best to be an attention thief (an easy task for a 5-year-old girl who knows she's cute ::) ), so I did my best to turn on my broadcaster voice (I'm no one-take-jake,) and read her books to her. Terri enjoyed the performance.
I told Terri it must have sucked to not be able to communicate and that I'd told her that during my first visit. Terri said that, no, it had been somewhat of a relief to not have to respond to anyone, and just let stuff happen for a while while she recuperated. (Thinking about that comment as I write this, maybe Terri was telling me she was more aware of what was going on around her than we suspected... hmn...)
Moriah's mom picked her up and, after a short visit, departed with Moriah. I entertained with a couple of stories from my days gigging in a band (how to program songs to increase alcohol consumption,) and then we talked about various concerns about current events in the world. Terri offered lucid comments along the way, and I silently cheered every one.
Finally, I had to go. I asked Terri to stand and gave her a hug, saying it was from each and every member of Susan's Place. Terri appeared visibly touched by this. I gave Andrea a celebratory hug, and she (and Terri!) said I was welcome back any time.
Haz
P.S., I totally forgot to ask about the laptop or any sort of donations to the Stovalls. My apologies...

To many messages from a whole bunch of ya to try posting back to all, I been catching up a little with all and will just say hello to all of you who responded to or about me in this thread, so just hello to all of you who made your presance and hello's to me welcom.
Some of you are a little more aware of your past effects on me and are a little more aware of your effects on me right down to a special phone call I received more then a week ago but finally got to answer last night as I rebroak the speech barrier again and I got to say hello and make a date for the next week or two. I'm on after burners again now.
Anyway, to all of you who posted to me, thank you. I have special feelings for each of you and they will be portrayed as time goes on. :whip:

just concentrate on getting yourself well and on spending quality time with your family.

You are ssssooooo lucky Terri. This nurse was sent to me when I was sick by another whom I respect immensely. I was just about to give her your address when you came back to us.

Well, I'm still not sure of anything yet, hang on to any wishful thoughts. And yes Val, I can read you and the rest, I just had to find my glassess which I hadn't worn in some months. Back to normal it would seem.
Thanks Dennis, a word from you is worth more then a paragraph from others, believe it. And I was counting on staying ahead of you Leigh. I know to stay ahead of you every chance I get. Send her over now and I'll return her somewhat belly whipped. For the rest of you .... thanks and perhaps someday I can perhaps reciprocate. I've never seen a topic spread so quick. You are all so wonderful.
If we are going to start talking ice age and flood negoatiations though I need a little catching up to do, I'm some years past that, but I'll see what I can do about it.

I'm so glad you are able to make it back here. I was so worried when I first heard about the stroke. I thought we'd never be able to see you back here, but when I heard you started recovering, I became very hopeful and I'm glad that you able to join us again.

Hi, Terri!
Good to see that the other Terri in the room is up and kicking -- I'm sure, soon, you'll be up and around biking and jousting windmills. Going back and reading all the wonderful things people have said of you, it must be like that scene where Tom and Huck were peeking from the back of the church at the celebration of Tom's and Huck's lives. I guess it's your turn to do a Mark Twain/Samuel Clemens and proclaim that the rumors of your impending demise were greatly exaggerated!
Life is strange...On the one hand, the world has become a seemingly dangerous and nasty place. But on the other hand, medicine keeps marching on showing the magic that humans are capable of doing. I know, with you working around medical people, you're probably used to it. But for us "civilians," it's very magical and truly wonderful. Though the steps back may be arduous, know that there is a room and a world of people that care about you and love you. You touched them and, for many weeks, they felt an empty place because you weren't here with them. Now that you're back, the world seems a better place. Welcome home.
Hugs to you,
Teri

Hi Terri:
This is wonderful news, I consider it a blessing that your recovery is progressing in a positive direction. I am happy for both you and Andrea. Don't lose that fighting spirit!
