Hello.
So I've wanted to start hrt(estrogen) for a long time now. But I'm a little bit worried about how much it might cost.
I'm not too worried about paying a therapist, since I already have a therapist in mind, and I can go to her website and see how much sessions cost.
I'm worried about paying the doctor who writes my prescription and I'm worried about keeping the prescription filled.
I don't have any insurance and I don't know if there's any insurance available to me that would cover hormones, so I'll probably pay out of pocket. But how much does it usually cost to keep a perception filled?

At Walmart estrogen was $10 for 30 2 mg pills. Spiro was $25 for 30 100 mg pills. Progesterone was about $40 for 30 100 mg pills.
The endo was about $430 per visit. You will have to go there the initial visit, then again in about two months, then every six months after that.
My endo offered his own personal insurance for those that didn't have anything else. That did Lower the cost some, to about $180 per visit. That insurance was $250 a year.

assuming you are located in the US, I can give you an overview on what I've paid to get started. I also don't have insurance coverage as many other girls..
The initial consultation with the endo was $245 which included a full physical. The follow-up appointment where we just talked and he prescribed the hormones was $146. The hormones of course will depend on your prescription but assuming you're going with a full transition dosage, you have to expect the cost in the area of $50-$60 a month but make sure you don't pay the regular pharmacy prices Check out goodrx.com and enter your prescription - it will show you a list of all major pharmacies and their prices.
On top of that are the blood tests. My initial one was $245 and the follow-ups were in the $180 range. Ask your endo to put a stamp on your blood test form that gives you self-payer discounts - mine said "Eligible for Quest Diagnostics Uninsured Patient Pricing Program". They once forgot to put the stamp on, and Quest wanted to charge me $640 instead of the $180 even though I told me I'm not insured... I walked out and got the stamp...it's crazy..

Oh, I forgot to mention that I had a follow-up blood test after 1 month, then after 3 more months and again after 3 months. As soon as my levels are stable, I only need to check it every 6 months plus a endo appointment once or twice a year...
