Title: For those contemplating GCS near or far what is your biggest concern

Just a curious little question for those contemplating GCS presently or at some point in the future what if any is your biggest concern or fear about going through with it. I Think for me it use to be the after care of getting to the point where I could care for myself.I found out I needn't worry though because I'm on Medicare and I will be able to get help while I heal and afterwards.

Recovery is my number one concern. From what I understand right now it takes at least 4 weeks to get back to be somewhat normal again and be able to care for myself.

My biggest concern is that it doesn't look good. I have no life so dilation won't be too bad. I'm getting it in norway and I'll have a morphine drip, so not too scared of pain. If anything goes wrong I'll be in my country's largest hospital so not too scared of complications either, I trust I'll get the care that I need. If it would look bad on the other hand, that would suck.

My biggest concern would be the recovery. Reading other members' accounts, it sounds grueling. I might seriously consider a "cosmetic" surgery, since I most likely will not have a use for a vagina anyway. The only reason to go for the full monty would be to keep my options open in the event that my wife ever decides to leave me and I find my orientation has changed.

I'm less than 8 weeks from surgery. My only concern is the possibility of complications during surgery or recovery.
If all goes according to plan I will be one very happy girl!

There's not enough information available to be fully informed of the risks and quality of the final result with each surgeon. I don't like uncertainty.

I was concerned about aftercare, and that's why I decided on Brassard.
My current concern is a major complication with the surgery.

Honestly, my biggest concern is that my FtM husband might never have anything he can put into it.

I am about 6 weeks away My concerns are:
an infection or UTI,
my graph will die ( I will have a graph for the vaginal canal)
having vagioplasty in the office at Papillion (the scrotum is needed at the time of 1st procedure for graft blood flow)
I am staying at my sisters for 1 week so my brother-in-law ( he dead names me)
Pain from dilation
Doing something that harms the VJ out of ignorance,
having pain meds in my possession ( I dumped the script of oxycodone in the toilet when I had FFS)
being away from work
Perhaps I worry too much. It will be what it will be.

My biggest concern is finding someone to do it. If I need to go out of state, because of the way Texas is, I'd have to save enough money for an extended motel stay afterwards.

It all depends on a number of factors. I was in the hospital for six days post op. I was home and having some help from people the first week and a half out. I was then mostly on my own. I started back to work at a little over 5 weeks post op. I've heard that others have taken shorter periods of time and some longer. I probably could have gone back to work if I had to but I had sick leave available and I used it.

My biggest worry is something stopping me having the surgery. I'll deal with whatever happens after that.

The recovery time is a complete deal breaker for me at least till I somewhat retire, which makes me sad, cause I'm experiencing a serious shift in opinion about the wisdom of the procedure. (kinda want it bad at the moment! lol)
I worry most about complications not related to sexual function, but more along the lines of infection and urinary tract function...

Mines would just be the small % of the surgery going wrong as well as the rare complications that may arise from healing and stuff (excessive granulation, rectovaginal fistula, etc.) I just get so freaked out because im a really petite person and i worry that the doc might accidentally cut through too much inside and stuff, etc. :-\
Other concerns regarding SRS would be insurance coverage and the possibility of the best docs retiring when it's my time to get the surgery.

If and when I do it I think I'll spend the week prior going to the chapel on the college campus I went to school and pray my brains out to find the courage to except what happens. I don't have money so I'll be dependent on Medicare and maybe a supplemental policy.I can't afford leaving my area so I'm going to depend on a surgeon from my healthcare system. Not to sound like a Debbie Downer I am 65 years old and won't have to carry unfortunate consequences for all that long. The chapel is the same chapel where I was born again during my Hippie days. Amen.
