Title: Failed

I went to the doctor last week. I was intending to ask about GRS but the receptionist was busily announcing everybody's business by talking loudly in the surgery so I never asked. I just had my cough and knee attended to.
I wish I could have been bolder. Of course the fact I was bullied so much in my past makes me very, very shy about announcing what I want. I'm so used to people denying it fir kicks.

I don't think you need to tell ask or even tell your doctor anything about GRS.
You need a surgeon to do it, and the surgeon will want a letter from a couple of psychiatrists. You may need a doctors referral to visit the psych, but even that you don't need to say why. I told my doctor I needed a referral for depression rather than gender issues, and I told him who to refer me to.

Have you considered writing a brief letter to your doctor outlining what you want? You could then book another appointment, hand the letter to the doctor & ask them to read it in front of you, and then discuss it with them.
That would give you plenty of time to prepare exactly what you want to say, and you're less likely to back out due to anxiety. You could even mention that you're very nervous due to having been bullied and would appreciate their understanding & support.
