Yes, you have it right. I have not yet come out officially at my work place. Instead I chose my immediate supervisor to confide in just before her retirement. She had always been all about work and a little cold. No, very cold. However, as soon as I told her what it has been like to be a 60+ year old male to female transgender person, she responded with a very deep warmth and a great smile that was very genuine. I did not expect her expression of love and acceptance that she showed me. I wish I had told her long ago.
Today as we said goodbye for possibly the very last time, she did something very out of character for her. She reached out in public and hugged me and said into my ear words that I will remember forever. Previously she had only known me by male name.
She said, "Goodbye, Donna" into my ear as she hugged me. I think I was the only person she hugged on her last day before she retired.
To be called "Donna" by name by my work supervisor was beyond the highest feeling I have had in years.
I want to send my deep appreciation to her on this forum. She will never see this, but I needed to say it.

I am so happy for you Donna. I to came out to someone at work back in May
and she was so wonderful .. Like you, I should have done it long before I did.
You always feel so good when things go even better than you could have imagined.

Thank you, KathyLauren and thank you kathb31.
It seems that every time I am open and honest with others about who I am, that I feel I am a woman, intimacy of a relationship is enhanced.
