Strike 3
Referred me to an Endocrinologist on basis that the Dr suggesting a medication is not qualified to make that suggestion and that suggestion should and can only be done by an expert.
After speaking to me and evaluating the information that my Dr had provided...the reason and explanation for the referral , My Dr had to work extra hard to get me to see this particular Endocrinologist. They were at a different hospital and required a further referral.
After asking a number of questions and reading all the information the Endocrinologist turned to me and asked Can we speak "off the record". Sure I said and his response was
"Unfortunately (Male name) you did not need to see me today, in fact what you actually need is a new personal Dr. One who has a bit more care for you than they do about their own ego"
I think it is time I found a new personal Dr.

Thank goodness you endo was honest and empathetic. They didn't happen to recommend any trans-friendly GPs in your area, by any chance?

I'm happy to hear you made some progress, but posting it here's not exactly off the record.

No real progress made unfortunately, all this actually means, is that I now have to spend inordinate amounts of time, looking for a Dr who will not antagonise my Endo and vice versa. This post is more about my Transphobic primary care Dr than anything. There nothing here to identify any of the parties concerned...its posted as a cry of frustration not an attempt to drop anyone in trouble.

Wow.. That's a GP who would have gotten a complaint to AHPRA lodged on the first first strike.
That said, I'm still waiting for something similar to happen to me, but knowing my medical staff, it's not going to. I'll be seeing my Adelaide GP on Friday, I'm going to be in town and need a prescription. He's more than happy to prescribe and monitor my hormones - and agrees that at this point, I have no need for an endo.

I worked as a medical device designer for many years often closely with doctors. My wife is, or was, a nurse. One thing we both totally agree on is that most doctors are.... (language TOS, Darn) generally speaking idiots. All cookbook medicine almost anyone can learn in no time. Anything out of the ordinary, forget about it. Totally lost and you suffer running from doc to doc to doc for this test and then another of the same because he doesn't like that lab or whatever.
My wife and I hopefully lucked out after 7 years of searching, saw an orthopedist a couple of weeks back who looked at her MRI and said "Oh, this is probably what is causing your life to be one living hell" OK I paraphrased.

I fired him today after he accused me of becoming agitated and aggressive with him. He has tried this tactic unsuccessfully once before so I was ready for him this time. I actually continued to speak to him finishing by asking him (despite him standing up) calmly why he had raised his voice at me (he sat down immediately) and why he was being so aggressive with me. He got really embarrassed and denied that he was being like that and claimed he felt insulted to be accused of it.
I smiled at him and said "It feels really yucky doesn't it"...he looked at me and said "what do you mean" I replied to him "You know what I mean, when someone accuses you of being aggressive and agitated when you are not"...he went bright red and said yeah it does and it feels so unfair...I know I said to him. We shook hands but he knew that I was not happy. I felt the best way to handle this is ensure that I make a move to change things )which I have already done) before he does
I had a meeting with the practice manager after and she suggested I see a young woman Dr who is very good. I have agreed to see her the next time I need something. The practice manager alluded to the fact that another Dr was probably a good idea. She seemed to feel that I would be better with a woman Dr since I am a woman and have had no luck with male Dr's. These two I have had recently are the only male Dr's I have ever had and neither of them coped very well with me being trans...lets hope this young female Dr will be OK

Liz,
You should PM me. My GP is fine with me and she manages my HRT and everything else. I am her only trans patient, she is in Blackwood if that isn't too far away for you.

I tend to be rather less tolerant. Why does the practice have someone like that working there? Birds of a feather and all.
