Title: Starting Over

What is transition? For me, transition is the process of change. It was the process of changing my old, horribly unhappy persona to the person that I am today. Transition was the process of becoming true to myself. Of learning to be comfortable in the skin that I live in everyday.
For many years I thought that transitioning would take a lifetime, but today I'm starting over, completing the journey from male to female, and starting over as a woman, a wife, a daughter, sister, niece, friend, and activist for equal rights for ALL people. I'm still a part of the LGBT community, but today I'm moving from "T" to "L"
I was once told that I'd always be trans, but I no longer believe that. To me, "trans" was the process of transformation, but what happens when you reach your destination? Am I still in transition?
* Driver's License (FEMALE)
* Social Security records (FEMALE)
* Passport (FEMALE)
* TX Birth Certificate (FEMALE)
* Military Records/VA (FEMALE)
* 10+ years of work history (FEMALE)
* Credit Records (FEMALE)
* School Records (FEMALE)
* Professional licensure (FEMALE)
* Corrective surgeries were completed 13 years ago.
* I'm accepted by my family.
* All acquaintances from the past 10+ years have only ever known me as who I am today.
* I go weeks without thinking about being trans. I'm just another woman in the world.
Legally, socially and psychologically, I am female. I've reached my destination and have achieved my goal. The time has come to evolve again. I'm done with my transition.
Today I'm taking on the title of lesbian, which better fits the challenges that I currently face. I'll remain an unwavering ally to this community, but I now have a new journey ahead of me.
To all those who have helped me over the past 14 years, my heartfelt thanks and sincere eternal best wishes go out to you. THANK YOU.
