Title: Aspergers and transgender?
Post by: GalaxyDust on November 08, 2016, 10:38:52 PM
Hello, you call me whatever as long as it's not "She"
I have what you'd consider aspergers syndrome i was diagnosed manipulate times by many professionals
I also am Transgender and i've been struggling with accepting being transgender and having aspergers
i haven't wanted to be myself for a long time i haven't wanted my ASPIE to escaped the box i placed it in behind a shelf because i wanted to be normal so i learned what others did and how others did the best i could and i'm over that
i'm glad i learned it but i can't hide the other part of me i can't hide my quirks any longer and i refuse to think i should just because some people may or may not understand them completely. So i'm typing this today because i realized while opening that box my aspergers has this way of needing a logical reason behind something, and it makes it hard for me to understand somethings are not logical (from what people has told me) And i need to find someone who gets this and could maybe help me understand how to cope with being a transgender person with aspergers syndrome.

I think it's true for all of us that the more logical we are, the more difficult it is to accept the fact that we are transgender. In my case I spent years trying to understand the way I was but it just didn't fit. At some point I just had to go with my feelings when deciding what to do. Now we understand the reason we are transgender and it's a difference in the brain that will always be with us. The feeling you have will always be with you so the only decision you need to make is if the transition is right for you.

I appreciate you telling me this
Could you send me a link to a video that could describe this reason?
Being written text and learning don't mix for me i have to listen to understand.

I can't link a video as I am not sure one exist. On this site we work mostly with medical reports and written documentation and that is where I learned what I know. Depending on what you want to know, you might find  "the transition channel"  (https://www.youtube.com/channel/UCfO3B57E6NpIn-KsVjvmLLw) somewhat useful as it covers the diagnosis of transsexualism, feelings and treatment.

I understand that people learn differently and I had that problem in school. If I understood how something worked, I knew it for life but if I didn't fully understand it, it was difficult for me to fake it. For me, books an written documentation work well as I like reading whenever I can.

I was diagnosed with Asperger in 2009. So I'm thinking that I just don't fit into society's labels and social expectations regarding many things, with gender just being one of them.

That must be difficult. I have severe dyslexia, as well as being partial trans, and show some mild symptoms of autism.

Things that help my own symptoms might help you if you want to try any of them.

Taking taking long walks outside daily,
eating small amounts of fish in the morning,
avoiding as much processed food, sweetened food, and red meat that you can,
eating only whole, organic food (I used to buy food in bulk from food coops and grow some of my food as well)

This Thai herb, used to relieve back pain, surprisingly, helps my brain integrate and eliminates dyslexia symptoms: derris scandens http://www.oasis-stad.com/product.php?id_product=518

I don't know if my particular brain disconnects are what affect you, but it's something you could try, if you like.

Good luck!

I'm mildly aspie. Both have social consequences  . Being aspie was worse when I was young, being trans is worse for me now. It's a matter of self acceptance and being comfortable in your own skin.

I am a aspie and trans... I found the best way to accept myself was to accept others... I am not proud.. but when I started down this journey.. deep down I was trans-phobic... I did not want to be like "them"..

but therapy.. mixed with time.. and getting to actually know my brothers and sisters.. I am proud to be " one of them "....

GalaxyDust,

It is not so much if you are interested or what your opinions are. As a moderator, I am tasked (with the others) to uphold the rules of the site. If you are not aware of the rules, I still have to enforce them. So it is in both your best interest and mine to know and follow them.

Thanks.

Warmly,

Joanna

Hi GalaxyDust,

I go to group and will soon be attending a second group. Both groups have a lot of members and the second group is a social group. In the groups there are aspie members. I say this because group may help you in many ways such as sharing your experiances and meeting and extremely accepting group of people.

also you've stated If you are not "aware" of the rules. My email i signed up with says midnightstar i've used this before so in other words i've already read and agreed to your terms i also did so when i signed up for the site.
And i came back with the accepting of this. So thank you ^_^ but i think its also important to take note of this. I realize you could take this as a argument so let me clear this up before that happens
i'm not in no way here to fight with you people but i'm a blunt person and i'll speak my mind and coming back i felt like it's important to be clear as possible with people because in the past there was a lot of misunderstandings  and arguments i don't want to see happen again so i want everything to be clear. but thank you for the concern.

I don't mind groups but i'm not interested as much in groups i've decided this over a course of several days
They just don't do it for me but i don't mind meeting people on the streets or hanging out so don't get me wrong.
I'd rather just use a forum and experiences to help me in my journey.  So anyone here wanting to give advice help is completely welcome and can really help me in a lot of ways but just sharing feelings and words between one another. You people just existing and this website just being up is basically everything i'm needing because it allows me to communicate with other transgender people and i'm needing that. To me person with person won't matter it's not like i understand social ques anyways. There isn't much difference online or offline so you just talking helps and i thank you people for that.

Hi GalaxyDust

I'm also on the autism spectrum and though I'm currently undiagnosed I have no doubt I'm on the spectrum. Unfortunately I'm having trouble getting an official diagnosis because I can't afford to get one I was wondering if you could help me??
