I have just had my second treatment of facial IPL treatment and it still HURTS REALLY BAD. I'm tough but when my upper lip was done tears came to my eye's. The only thing that gets me through my facial IPL treatments is the constant reminder that I keep telling myself while undergoing the torture is "one day I will be a feminine women with smooth hairless skin, breasts, long hair etc etc
I have really thick dark facial hair and I am curious to know, DOES THE PAIN GET ANY LESS as the facial hair become's thinner and lighter from the IPL treatment?

Hi Clementine
Welcome to Susan's. I hope you enjoy your time here.
I have not had IPL but I have had Laser Treatments. They are Similar with the exception of one giving far more permanent results that the other depending on skin type and follicle color. I have about 60% Dark hair when I started which is down to under 10 % now. The reason it hurts is because you describe "really thick dark facial hair" and that pain is the hair follicles being zapped. Did you get a good shedding after your first treatment. I think with IPL the strength is significantly lower than the Elux 810 for example. Each time it hurts for me I get a really good shedding. The last one hurt a bit but nowhere near as much as the first time...I have probably 5 more sessions to do over the next 4-5 years. I was still shedding 3 weeks after my last laser treatment. The next one I have is in 3 weeks and I need to target 3 different area's that have a total of maybe 30 black hairs
Welcome and enjoy
Regards
Liz

So yeh, face hair is awefull!!! >:(. So many more hairs so close together.
Try putting oragel toothache cream on the skin and let it numb it for about 10 minutes first. This home machine has 5 intensity levels. Best I can do on the face is level 3. After that level 5 on the rest of the body is no problem! ;)
If you get one buy extra bulbs for it and take a few seconds between pulses. This will make the bulbs last longer. I was on the second bulb on my first treatment with it.
When I know how it works I'll let you know.
Also noticed after a good hit to the hairs the nerves go dead on them too so if you overlap some a treated area doesn't feel anything but warm the second time.
