Title: Would you do anything different before GCS?
Post by: Brooke on November 29, 2016, 07:21:40 PM
I wasn't sure whether to post here or in post op life- Mods please move if needed;-)

My question is for those of you who are getting ready or have already gone through GCS.

Are there any areas that you wished you had done something different, more or less of, under or over-prepared or just did not see coming?

I'm only about six months in to the RLE and thus far my transition to full time has been seamless. Lucked out there.

I am wanting to get to the "finish line" if there even is such a place sooner rather than later. For me that's major surgeries out of the way etc.

In terms of getting things done checklist I am about 95% finished with electrolysis on the face. 75% finished in surgical site and got my first chest clearing last week (sparse to begin with- yay!)

I don't think I will need ffs (opinions are welcome- see my profile pic if interested)

At only 6 months of HRT I have a solid (albeit cone shaped) B cup.

I'm toying with the idea of a couple of Thailand trips if I can't get my insurance to pay for what I would like to have done (at this point GCS and ba)

Anyone wish they had just gotten everything out of the way ASAP or on the other end of the spectrum waited longer, or worked in areas longer.

I also have completed my legal name change and gender marker change.

Thanks for all the support!
Hugs,
Brooke

I really needed GCS. I scheduled FFS because I had to wait a year for GSC and 9 months for ffs. I had been doing electrolysis for about 1 year and need about another year. I had a BA scheduled with the GCS but there were complications and I will need to do that is a few months, perhaps 6.

I think I would seriously consider going to Thailand for FFS. I am very glad I went to Dr. McGinn for GCS. I wish I started electrolysis sooner.

Thanks Rachel! Quick question, your statement above about Thailand for FFS, are you considering FFS for yourself there or have you already had it? Also that suggestion, was it also directed towards me (do I need it?). Anyone in Thailand that you've considered for FFS

Thanks again!

What wasn't possible for me but if I were to do it over today, I would have learned far more about the details of the surgery so I could select the surgeon that produced the "best" surgery for me. At the time I only knew of one other surgeon and nothing was known about him. I went to the surgeon that everybody went to and I forgot to pick up an owner manual so for nearly 33 years I was unaware that I had a clitoris. The ones today are visible but mine is under regular skin and not visible. Now I know where it is and how the surgery was done, I can feel it but an owners manual would have eliminated many years of mystery.

Good points on doing your homework Dena. I haven't done a ton of research for surgeons in the states (besides knowing the big names and their techniques). Figure I will research the surgeons my insurance will work with if/when I get to that point.

I have my Thai surgeons picked out though (suporn, Chet and pai- listed in order of preference)

Oh and Dena, that's awful that it took all that time to understand the features included. :-(

Suporn has a year and a half wait list so you'd probably want to book soon if you choose him.

I had extensive FFS with Dr. Spiegel 9/16/2016. I am very please with the results. I look much younger, perhaps 20 years. My jaw is still healing and the fat injections are replumping ( they lose water then later rehydrate). The only thing is my jowls are not as I wanted them which is flush. They are greatly improved but not flush. I was told to wait for 3 months after surgery for the jowles. I can have a revision which I would if it is not flush.

The reason I said I would consider Thailand is due to cost and cosmetic results I have seen from Warlockmaker on the sight. I think I may have had a similar result at a greatly reduced cost. Doctor selection is critical though. Perhaps staying in the USA was the right move, I do not know. I do know about 1/3 of my FFS cost will get refunded due to the IRS medical cost income tax deduction.

I can not make out facial features very well from an avitar. I can not comment on if you need ffs. I looked very male and had crows feet and wrinkles as well as bone structure that was male. All of that is gone and I look soft and feminine.
