How eclectic is your taste in music?
Personally, my tastes change with my mood and one day I might be listening to debussy, and the next, or even later that day, I might end up listening to twisted Individual or W.A.S.P. lol.
If I take 50 random trans from my collection (as can be done under Amarok) they include artists such as:
Foo Fighters
Leftfield
Chopin
Art Of Noise
Pink Floyd
Amel Larrieux &
4 Hero amongst others :o
Most people think I'm weird to have such a mixed taste... so I guess I'm hoping someone will proved me wrong lol
look forward to your responses :D

Pretty,
I like a bit o'classical a bit o'jazz.
Very into Avant Garde music
Into blues and roots
A little smattering of world, latin, african rhythms, gypsy folk, balkan, Arabic, Flamenco, I have a wonderful CD charting how Arabic and moorish music became flamenco.
Classic rock and roll and rnb (I detest new RnB though)
Crooners
And the big theme
Proto punk, Punk, post punk, new wave, Old Indie, Britpop - That rough timeline of music.

Opeth, Iron Maiden, Megadeth, Dethklok, The Abscence, Death, Napalm Death, Black Sabbath...you get the idea.
EVANESCENCE!!!, Fiona Apple, Norah Jones, Jewel.
All kinds of 50's & 60's music / artists / Doo Wop:
Pink Floyd, The Beatles, Rolling Stones, Bob Dylan, The Grateful Dead.
A whole list of different 80's music: Cars; etc.
Time / life "Country Classics", BR549, Lyle Lovitt, Gillian Welch, Allison Krauss.
Jazz: Miles Davis, Wes Montgomery, John Coltrane, to name but a few.
Blues: way too many artists to list here.
Other Jam bands: PHISH, Gov't Mule, Lake Trout, Widespread Panic.
Hip Hop / Rap: Cypress Hill, House of Pain.
Blah-Blah, the list goes on & on...so, I guess, I like and have just about everything...just about.

Classical (although this section of my music collection is quite small): Varese Arcana Holst "The Planets" and a 4CD Boxset of music composed for the Twilight Zone TV series by Bernard Herrmann, Jerry Goldsmith, and various other composers. A mix tape of composers such as Debussy, Ives, Phillip Glass, Kronos Quartet, Frank Zappa, and Naked City/John Zorn.
Blues: Just a few tracks by Sylvester Weaver, John Fahey, Fred Frith, John Lee Hooker, and Jimi Hendrix.
Jazz: A few CD's by John Coltrane, Miles Davis, and Ornette Coleman.
Indian Music: A few songs by Trial Of The Bow and a Ravi Shankar boxset.
Experimental/Ambient/Noise: Mainly a few compilations on CD and cassette with a few scattered CDs and tapes like Smell and Quim, Destroy 2, and The Boredoms.
Grindcore/Death/Speed/Doom Metal: The largest part of my collection mainly late 80s/early 90s stuff like Napalm Death, Carcass, Obituary, and about 1000 others.
Punk Rock/Hardcore: just beginning to scratch the surface in this area- Ramones, Discharge, Dead Kennedys, Minor Threat, and lots of Japanese bands like S.O.B., Outo, Lipcream and lots more. Japan rules!! ;D

wow, awesome! :D
Great to see such variety in peoples selections :) makes eclectic taste seem more like the norm lol.
Funnygirl, you might even have a more eclectic mix than me! :o :D
I managed to append most of my collection to a html file here: http://www.mediafire.com/?1axm904trmt might take a while to read as its currently at 11877 tracks (approx 6 weeks 2 days) and counting

Its not so much what I listen to but how much of it I can listen to. So where I can toss on John Coltrane and leave it on all day, 20 minutes of Cannibal Corpse or Slayer is about fine.
The easy way to do this is just to list the bands that I have more than 4 or 5 shows/CDs by:
Bob Dylan, Mozart, Chopin, Grateful Dead, Blue Oyster Cult, Ozric Tentacles, Beethoven, Miles, 'Trane, Glenn Miller, AC/DC, Joan Baez, Johnny Cash, Francis Vincent Zappa, Neil Young, Yardbirds, Robert Johnson, Jeff Beck, Traffic, Skatalites, Pink Floyd, Gov't Mule, Motown/Stax/Volt and the Beastie Boys.
But I have lots of old dance stuff, country stuff, marching bands, world beat, traditional music, jazz, rock, pop and even a few Brittney Spears songs - hit me baby one more time.
I have 7 complete Led Zeppelin shows spanning their entire career, but none of the studio stuff anymore. And I've downloaded a big pile of shows by Paul Oakenfold, Sasha and Digweed, Cut Chemist, DJ Shadow and all those guys.
I also have a pile of stuff by the Vanilla Fudge, CDs, live shows, rehearsal tapes, demos - the best band that everyone forgot.
Oh yeah, I'm a total fan of Ennio Morricone and listen to his soundtracks all the time.
