This post is for my friend she's on spiro and estrogen for a year now and she keeps complaining she feels and looks more masculine recently she's mtf. She said she sometimes forgets her second tablet at night so she takes it in morning but she never misses a doee. I looked up spiro and people who used it for acne said it stopped working but not sure if that's the case hormonally? I wonder if your body gets used to it or learns how to reject spiro? She has been down about this and I really can't think of why this would happen to her? Does anyone know about spiro I don't know much because I'm post op

The dosage for spiro can be different from person to person. I know one person who requires almost no spiro to do the job and others who take above the standard dosage. The only way to know for sure is to have your endo check testosterone levels in the next blood test and make adjustments if needed.
Another possible problem is we sometimes have difficulty adjusting to our body changes and think we are more masculine than we are. It's not a problem of the drugs not working but is a problem of seeing ourself as we really are.

Might be worthwhile seeing how the T and E levels look via some blood tests with a Dr...maybe something has caused a rise in T? Just a thought

We are both getting levels tested tomorrow. I don't see the physical differences she's mentioning but I'm really worried about her she's down about it. But there's no way your body can like learn how to fight back the blockers right?

I was thinking something could be interfering with the uptake of either medication. I know with some meds you can build tolerance. My understanding is that it is possible to get tolerance issues even with hormones. It could be as simple as a different delivery method may work better.

When you build tolerance your body gets used to the compound and it takes much more of it than it used to give the same result

I didn't know that so then I guess as time goes on you should increase ur dose? I have heard people being on pills for a long time and then they do the opposite and lower their dose? It's really confusing to me I don't want to give her the wrong advice. So if you build tolerance the dosage will still work but will just be less effective I guess? Does anyone else take the pills?

Different drugs have different action, reaction and are used in different ways. Your Dr should give you the best advice and asking them is more likely to give you a definitive answer. Until the results of the blood test I wouldn't even worry about it...I am sure your Dr will get to the bottom of it.
