Hi Everyone,

My name is Sfora, I have been on hormones for 9 months, going on 10 here soon. I always knew I never wanted to be a full male, nor a full female. I want to keep my male private area the way it is without undergoing SRS. My question is what is the correct term for this? I hate to refer to using ->-bleeped-<-, or what Japan calls the New Half term, because it is kind of offensive in a way, especially the word ->-bleeped-<-.

I would say non-binary since it just means that you're not identifying as male or female in a binary fashion. 
But ultimately you should use whatever terminology makes you comfortable.

The term "->-bleeped-<-" is a Western word usually associated with Thai sex workers, or kathoey, who are actually gay males who dress as females but retain their male gender identities.

You get to define yourself however you please, but "non-binary" covers anything between the male and female identity poles.

I live all genders and pass as all too.  Including the in between.

The other words trigger porn associations and dont work for us.

Non binary or androgyne works for me, but Sfora seems to fit you just fine!  Your true name is powerful and unique to you, much better than a mere label.  I have yet to find a label other than my name which really captures my journey, personality and identity with its nuance, ambiguity, contradiction and fluidity

I always like genderqueer. Which you read as pretty genderqueer so may benefit from the term. "Non-binary" always sounded negative to me, as if you're defining yourself by what you're not rather than what you are. Sort of felt adversarial. It'd be like awkwardly referring to myself as a "non meat eater" instead of a vegetarian ;)

I just go "non-binary" or sometimes "bi-gender", although those have more specific meanings.  And, at the risk of censure, I like to describe myself as "transitioning to intersex" (but I know some people don't feel that intersex applies to anyone who wasn't born that way).

I was declared by a therapist as neither male nor female, and that is why I decided to start the transitioning process by going HRT. I feel like my body is lacking a more feminine aspect, but I don't mind the male private part. I just wish the federal government would add these genders for us to be ourselves. I sometimes say I am the third gender, lol.

Hi Sfora,

    Ah, it's funny - "third gender" also has a whole host of label implications.  Everything from being a lesbian to being trans to being somewhere in between.  I think it's ultimately most constructive to describe yourself however you think best (with what labels make most sense to you, if you want labels).  I certainly do understand where you're coming from though.  I have a strong "do my own thing" streak.

wikipedia though not a source of fact consistently has some decent gender identifers in the NB catchall...  I use nb to skate by where i need to however i relate as agender simply because my gender is not explainable in words.  I dont need to or want to fit into a box.  i climbed out of hte male box thinking i wanted to be female to find out i dont want that box either...  agender works for me and feel icky about some of the illusions as i see them of simply identifying nb like the catchall it is.  i think each and every human is beautiful and deserved to be honoured and loved how they express ... the idea of gender boxes nd catagories makes me want to shread applications :P <3 ya

Some nations, including Spain, and the State of Oregon have now recognized people who are non binary.  The world is changing and is recognizing a far more diverse citizenry than we once imagined.

yea i notice not only oregan yet also a few other states are in the process i have been in touch with a few lawyer groups about doing same when i was in mass will equally do now that i moved states.  Though i have concerns considering current us politics

Hoping the organization GLAD will join in as they were super active in gay rights movements.  I'm actually pretty active in some of the Trans rights laws etc as I get the privelegae of working in human rights field and being in the trenches on a lot of shtuffs from mental health to race to lgbtqia+ stuff etc.  thats the good part of my work

Non-binary sounds fair enough, some people go further and say agender or gender-neutral.
