Hi,

I'm finally considering BA after years (10 yrs+) of being on different HRT regimens and hoping hormones would give me what I wanted. I was genetically blessed (the women on both my dad's and mom's side are well-endowed) but, despite that, there was no significant growth. Thankfully, at least, I am finally on a regimen where all other things (well-being, overall feminization,) are quite good.

My question to you all: should I just keep my small tiny AA/A breasts and move forward OR will it help me give more confidence/assurance, allow me to further grow in my intimate relationships as I will be no longer insecure about my breasts, etc.

In other words, has breast augmentation to those who have had it done improved significantly your quality of life, was it worth the risks and do you have any regrets?

I have Cis friends that are quite pleased with having breast augmentation.

Hey girl!  Congrats on the 10+ years.  BA is a very personal decision.  I got mine at the 6 month HRT mark.  I am very happy with my decision and I think it has helped me in my transition.  (I am only at 21 months)  I wanted to look proportional and the BA allowed me that.  I did not go overly large because I wanted a proportional look.  Having boobs has allowed me a sense of freedom in my transition.  But again, everyone is different.  It really is up to you and how you think you will feel.  If you think it will give you confidence, it most likely will.  Good luck with your decision and keep us informed.

It comes down to what you want. In my case, I am and will always be comfortable with mother nature gave me even if it's only  an A cup. I don't see where breast size has affected my passibility. On the other hand, resuming HRT has given me breast growth pushing be beyond an A cup and I really don't care if it stops at a B or C cup.

I suggest you try breast forms if you haven't already and see if you are comfortable with larger breasts. If you are, and you want them, go for them.

I've had a completely awesome experience with BAS, done by Meltzer back in the day. 

They were done after 1.5 years of hormones, going from an A cup to a C cup.  Nothing ostentatious, I wanted them to look as natural as possible.  Well over a decade of HRT later (with a couple three years of being off HRT thrown in), cup size hasn't really changed other than through weight gain or loss. 

I needed more breadth than anything else, because of the shape of my upper body.  We went under the areolas, to help camouflage the scar, and they were placed completely under the muscle.  The implants were Mentors, saline, round moderate profile, I want to say about 400cc, I think going closer to a nominal fill rather than a maximum fill to get that breadth without being too hard, but I might be misremembering that particular detail.

I found the pain of BAS (7.5 out of 10) to be more significant than SRS itself (6 out of 10) with facial surgery setting the standard of "10" for me on the pain scale.  It was easily managed, though, with appropriate medication.  Soreness lasted for about a month.

Everything was pretty hard the first weeks postop, due to swelling, and it took several months for them to settle.  I had to massage them regularly to prevent capsular contraction.  Not wearing a bra for years and years has helped to create some natural sag.  Today they're pretty soft, but firm, and they jiggle nicely.  The only tells are when I raise my arms over my head (my boobs rise up in unison) or if I flex my chest muscles (so I don't do that).  Given my chest, they tend to spread apart, and only with a sports bra can I actually generate any appreciable cleavage. 

There are several day-to-day ramifications that make a big difference to me.  First, my whole upper body looks much more proportional and feminine now; I don't cringe when I see myself in the mirror after I step out of the shower, I can actually appreciate what I have.  Second, I can actually find appropriately sized bras.  Third, and most importantly, a much wider range of clothing now works for me.  Finally, it made me much more attractive to men -- I started getting hit on much more frequently after I had this done. 

I've had no loss of nipple sensation; the whole area has always been quite erogenous.  I've had many lovers, and none have commented on my breasts being "fake" or asking if I've had my boobs done (though maybe I've just had wise lovers).  Indeed, they tend to pay lavish attention to them, appreciating them greatly. 

It's one of the best decisions I've ever made.

Of course it's a personal decision, but having breasts is very important for the vast majority of women.  There were some 300,000 breast surgeries in 2014 (augmentation/reduction/lifts/reconstruction).  It's big business.  Most breast augmentation surgeries are done on women in their 20s.  After their child bearing years, many women seek breast lifts along with implants to improve their appearance and restore confidence. 

I achieved a small 36B cup on hormones over three years.  I hoped to avoid BA, but often wore padded bras to enhance my bust to better the appearance of the clothes I chose to wear.  I was hoping that development would continue to at least a small C.  It didn't.  I came to the conclusion that the only way to reach my goal was with silicone implants.   I arranged a consultation with a local plastic surgeon who was very helpful.  He made use of a 3D imaging tool (Vectra) to simulate my appearance with implants of various sizes, given my own natural breast development.  Then he helped me decide on the type and placement of implants to optimize the overall effect.

From what I learned, someone with very little natural breast development can best achieve natural looking breasts using the anatomic, highly cohesive silicone implants (commonly called gummy bear implants) placed partially under the pectoral muscle (dual plane placement), and inserted through an incision in the breast fold (inframammary incision).  Even though I had better than average natural breast development, my surgeon and I decided that the gummy bear implants by Mentor would be best for me.  He also suggested that I opt for 440 cc implants to attain the best overall proportions given my upper body anatomy.  My bra size ended up being a 38D.  Cup size alone is a poor way to measure breast size, though. The cup of a 38D bra is equal in size to the cup of a 40C bra.   Both band and cup must be specified to be meaningful.

Thanks to everyone for their feedback. :) I just feel that, when naked, the one thing missing from the equation is breasts. Everything else looks fine to me. BA, it will be probably be. Since I don't heal well, I wonder if incision under the areola would be best. I think I will go for placement underneath the muscle as it looks more natural and the extra pain is worth it, in my opinion. I want it to look as natural as possible and feel natural too. Not too big but not too small either. Just the right size for my frame. I think the surgeon will know what to do as he has extensive experience and is apparently conservative so I'm less likely to end up with breasts that are too large. Crossing my fingers but kind of sad as I had always wanted my own natural breasts.  :-\

After 2 years of HRT, I now NEED to wear a 40D bra.

A few years before, I too, was breast obsessed. Now that I have more than a handful, having breasts IS NOT REALLY A BIG DEAL. Oh yes, I love having breasts and they feel wonderful, especially when I get a little bounce going up or down stairs or just plain walking. But really, breasts only do 3 things. They feed babies, attract men, and get in the way.

Only you can make the decision to augment or not.

I have the exact same experience as Sophia with Dr Meltzer.  I had BA in 2003 and have been completely satisfied ever since. Best wishes to you in your decision  :)

I've not done it yet, but I definitely would. For me it's more a question of why not?

Also, helps me be more at peace with my body where seeing a feminine form with more developed/bigger breasts will, I think, give me more confidence and a sense that things make more sense, are more harmonious. Feeling more like a woman.

I'm happy enough with what hrt has given me in a year and while a ba would make sense to be body:boobs proportional, it just doesn't make sense to me as I have no real plans on passing. Hrt hasn't done away with body hair so cleavage is never going to look femme.

I'm 100% happy with how they feel now, a bit more weight would be lovely I'm sure but the sense that there's feminine tissue there at all combined with the sensitivity that's come from estrogen is good enough.

I 'gifted' my other half with implants, and they're indistinguishable from the real thing. For the first six months or so they were kinda inflated looking and too perky, but they settled in. Interestingly (and perhaps counter-intuitively), the surgeon was very much against submuscular implants to avoid the unnaturally 'stuck on' look. Whilst it seems to make more sense to place them behind more layers of native tissue, this was very much discouraged in her case.

I was supposed to have a BA the day after my GCS ( due to OR time and me scheduling it after the GCS). During my GCS they thought my low blood pressure was an issue so until an EEG was done my BA was on hold. I missed the window for the BA but will have it in 4.5 months, it is already paid for.

I was really disappointed when the BA was cancelled.

I was/will have 550 mg cohesive silicone over the muscle. I will have a full C. The reason I want a BA is so I look better nude and in cloths.

BA is covered by my insurance so it's certainly an option for me but I'd greatly prefer if I can get a decent size naturally. Have a large ribcage sadly so chances aren't on my side.

I think having implants is a very personal decision..

I am still all natural, but I was very lucky as hormones gave me a 36D breasts. They look amazing in a push-up bra.

I am now in my late 20's... I will properly go for BA when I am older (Late 40's) to firm things up when things begin to sag.. then I also will properly go up a cup size.

Fat Transfer might be an option.  You can get a cup size out of it from what I've researched...  Still natural breasts.

Let me break this down for you:

"and do you have any regrets?" --My life is full of regrets, but having breasts of a size more than nominal helped me on the inside and the outside.

The BA was more impactful outwardly than anything (including GRS), sauf voice surgery.  (Getting rid of the boy voice had the most impact on me in all areas of being a woman)

BA is wonderful.. Nothing like having a 15 year old girls boobs. Not the loose sagging ones that natural ones become. I now have a B+ cup with 350cc. I had zero pain just the bandages pressure. Maybe cos I didnt get too big a size. If you can afford go for it
