Title: Will having Asperger's preclude me from getting SRS?

I've been on several websites regarding SRS and other related surgeries and they've all said basically the same thing: "must be free of psychiatric illnesses". Well, I have Asperger's syndrome, as well as Tourette's (which is more along the lines of a neurological motor disorder), depression, OCD, and bipolar. However, these conditions haven't stopped my gender therapist from clearing me for HRT, so do you think I'd have a problem with getting the surgeries?

Nope that is what the assessment is about.
Some people need help, some people don't.

I don't know much about SRS i'm not mtf but i highly doubt that'll become a problem
a lot of trans people seem to have aspergers and SRS from what iv'e seen you'll be fine i'm sure.
Plus if they didn't go to another place do it there, but i highly doubt it'll become a problem.

Asperger's should not prevent you from getting SRS. It's commonly known that a larger percentage of individuals with Asperger's are transgender compare to the general population. In my case HRT help me with Asperger's quite a bit. Doctors are more concerned about conditions affect you with your decision making abilities or the mentally be able to cope with the recovery process.

Being bi-polar has not stopped my HRT, not sure about SRS, but I will cross that bridge when I get there.
I keep close tabs on my moods, and so far have not noticed any issues between my psych med's, and HRT med's. Both my psychiatrist, and gp are aware, and don't see any issues.

I'm pretty sure the statements of no mental illness are to make sure you can give informed consent, making sure that mentally your competent and aware of what is going to happen/want to happen.
Could also see it being there to make sure you actually have gender dysphoria, and not a fetish/fantasy etc.
I would consider both of those more neurological not mental health/psychiatric.
I for instance have Cerebral Palsy, epilepsy, as well as some concentration and attention deficits. All of these are considered neuro, not psych. I don't believe Aspergers would even show up in the DSM manual

Even in my therapy group which is a part of todays standards the rule was no condition that would interfere with your ability to make a decision. Other conditions may co-exist with being transgender and as long as you are able to make an informed decision, other conditions are not an issue. Aspergers might require some additional therapy for evaluation reasons but it shouldn't prevent or delay SRS.

I have both AS and depression and my GP hasn't mentioned these being precluding factors to any kind of permanent cosmetic surgery.
