Hello Ladies,

I have my orchiectomy scheduled for April 10, but plan to have vaginoplasty around June of next year. I am getting really concerned because I am seeing doctors commenting that there can be issues with the scrotal skin atrophying. This, of course, leads to a lack of perfect skin to form labia.

Has anyone else read of this issue? I really want my testicles gone so my hormones will kick into overdrive, but I don't want to put the final bottom surgery at risk!

Any advice or comments on what you have seen would be appreciated.

Yes,  atrophy can happen. It's also a good idea to contact your surgeon of choice and consult on where incisions are made for the orchi to prevent issues with SRS. Some surgeons prefer that you don't have an orchi pre SRS at all.

Check with the surgeons you are considering for SRS to find out what their recommendations are regarding an orchiectomy.  I checked with mine and was told what type of scrotal incision for the Urologist to use which is what was done.

Definitely nice to have my balls gone and know that my body chemistry is female from the estrogen patches.   My urologist and endo supported an orchie to allow a lower estrogen dosage and still have my body feminized.

Looking forward to SRS in Sept, 2017.

I had a free orchi lined up with my insurance, but Dr. Brassard said not to do it, he needed that skin intact..

I was freakin' cuz I really wanted them gone, too, but I am sooo glad i didn't, my new vajajay is amazing, I would be soo mad at myself had I compromised it in any way.

For me, the results were waaay worth the wait..

I agree with everyone, check with your surgeon.  It is honestly not that long to wait and you can get a better outcome if your surgeon has more to work with.  I did not have an orchie and everything looks and works great, even 13 years later :)
