Jeff Sessions' DOJ is already working to roll back protections for transgender kids

On Sessions' first day, the DOJ signaled that it's reversing course on Obama-era guidelines protecting kids at school.

The Trump administration has elected not to contest a Texas federal judge's injunction barring the federal government from implementing Obama administration guidelines that protect transgender kids in schools.
Oral arguments for the Obama Justice Department's appeal of the judge's decision were scheduled for Tuesday. The DOJ cancelled them in a legal brief submitted Friday.

I shall be so glad when the media moves on from scrutinizing Trump and onto something interesting. It's getting so bad I don't even turn the Telly on any more.

It's too early to say things like that. He hasn't done anything yet. All he's done so far is window dressing. He's pandered to the electorate with a ton of executive orders all of which will fail when brought before the judicial branch.

The media is attacking him relentlessly and coming up in many instances with false accusations and in others the truth is so badly distorted by the media that it's just fiction. I came to an executive decision to ignore as much of the media as I could get away with, years ago.

We can only assess where things are headed in probably about 6 months. Until then , just hunker down and weather the brunt of the drooling neanderthal journalists. I'm not pro nor anti Trump. I want to see where he's really headed before I come to any conclusions and that should be at the 6 month mark.

The life of a us president is very short at 4 years - so short they barely have a chance to achieve anything. The one thing that comes screaming out is how much needs fixing in DC. Whether he's the person to do it remains to be seen.

There are only two ways that's going to happen. The news, properly, reports things that are controversial or exciting. The only way they'll stop is when his actions are neither.

So, they'll stop when his government stops performing controversial actions or when those controversial actions become the norm.

I've been on the news side of this kind of cycle, when I was in junior high school. It can be a truly uncomfortable position for the newswoman and that leads to a lot of pressure on the newswoman to normalize those actions as quickly as possible.

The Republican Department of Justice just withdrew its support for transgender students.  Reporting that is not an attack on trump.   It is rather a simple statement of the facts.  Ignoring facts is not a virtue.

To me it is pretty irrelevant at least in terms of this community, who voted for who, but you cannot argue whose side the various political and interest groups are on. The facts are simple to discern by reading their positions, tweets and platforms.  Sessions is a regressive and has been since he was on the national scene in the 1980s. This is a proven fact. The administration chose a regressive. This is a undebatable fact.

Now i'm not sure what the ideal world looks like to a person like Mr Sessions but i am sure it would not be an ideal for me or people like me. I'm also not sure what time he actually wants to regress to, but you can't put a that genie back in its bottle and people that idealize the past so highly as to want to try and turn the clock back, often ignore the evil in the past, or fail to see the reality of what the past entailed.
