so this probably sounds super weird but i'll explain it. so after i got my second packer someone asked if they could borrow my first packer. i suck at saying no so i said they could borrow it for a week. fast forward two months i still haven't gotten it back so i messaged him about it and he said he'd bring it over. a few days later he messaged me and said that his brother drew all over it with sharpie. how convenient that happened right as i wanted it back. anyway, it looks terrible and i'm not sure how to get the sharpie out. it's not like anyone's gonna see it or whatever since it's just a packer but it's my first one and it means a lot to me. if anyone has any suggestions that'd be great

Welcome to Susan's Place. I haven't tested it yet but I believe they use alcohol as a solvent so rubbing alcohol should remove it. If that fails, they make a white board cleaner that should be available in an office supply store that would cut it. I am not sure what packers are made out of so you might want to test an out of the way areas to make sure the solvent doesn't attack the packer.

Jeff Sessions forehead grease works best. If that doesn't work, then I suggest Methyl ethyl ketones, which I use to clean my dinghy at the end of the season of hard use.
Interestingly I used to clean Sharpy indelible ink off of Xray film{mis- labeled affected side} by drawing over line with fresh Sharpy mark and immediately wiping with an alcohol wipe. This has also worked on other plastics. If all else fails try toilet cleaner gel made for under the rim, it has muriatic acid. Wear gloves rinse with water no metal containers or scrubies.

My son decorated his guitar with a sharpie...when he wanted to sell it, we used plain white toothpaste on a wash rag. About a pea-sized blob on a damp rag will clean 2-3 square inches. The sharpie comes off very quickly.
That is hard plastic, not sure if a packer absorbs the ink though.
ETA: Even if it doesn't work, the packer will be minty fresh!

Used to use ethanol to clean sharpie off of surfaces when I worked in the lab.

From past experience, all of these things will get the dark marks off but will always leave a bluish faded mark from what once was there. This happens because plastic and other materials are pores and the ink sets into the deep crevasses.
My suggestion is, if its a cheap packer ($12 limpy) ask your buddy for a few bucks and get a new one. If its an expensive packer ($60 Mr. Right) tell your buddy to buy you a f#$king new one! I don't think your old packer will ever be the same even if the marks do mostly come off, the harsh solvents will mess with the texture and maybe leave a "smell".
Your friend really should take responsibility for returning you property back in an unacceptable state.
Idk why he let a (little?) brother play with a fake dingus. That seems really wrong in a lot of different ways.
