Title: Reoccuring UTI
Post by: chinee on February 19, 2017, 03:03:36 AM
Hello girls, to give you a short background I am almost 3 years post op and had revision a year ago.

I keep having UTI recently and if I drink a lot of water at night before my bed time (because this is the time I take my pills and other beauty pills), it hurts to pee the next morning and my urine has a weird sulfur smell. I took courses of antibiotics twice but still it keeps coming back a few days after I finish my antibiotics. However, I found a way to stop the morning pee scenario that if I don't drink much water and I wash my vagina before bed time, I don't experience the burning sensation the next morning and the sulfur smell goes away. But still sometimes it happens.

My urinalysis keep having result of low specific gravity and high bacteria. Anyone has experienced this? Am I doing something wrong? Can this be due to my revision surgery that involves removing excess erectile tissue to my urethra? Please let me know your thoughts about this.

Thanks,
Chins

Start drinking lots of cranberry juice, I would opt for unsweetened added to water as the normal kind involves a lot of sugar. Also, adding yoghurt to your diet could help with adjusting your vaginal microflora to healthy lactobacillus.

Growing up I had lots of problems with UTI's especially near and around the surgery years. Cranberry juice will help with that issue. It makes the environment less conducive to the bacteria that cause UTI"s and kidney infections. As far as t he gravity, I have no idea. Hugs

You need to go see your surgeon. Try and find out what exactly is going on. I have a feeling it might have something to do with reducing excess erectile tissue.

UTIs can occur for a number of reasons. Some things you should be aware of is.
1. Always wipe from front to back.
2. Don't make a second pass with the same piece of toilet paper.
3. Pee after having sex to wash anything out that might have gotten in during sex play
4. Consume water throughout the day so you pee regularly. Dehydration will allow bacteria to work it's way in.
5. Make sure you keep everything clean down there
6. Make sure you fully empty your bladder when you go.
7. If you receive antibiotics for treatment, follow the doctors instructions to the letter as missing a dosage or two can allow the bacteria to develop a resistance.
8. Make sure the doctor is aware of your transgender status. If the prostate is still in place, it requires a longer treatment with antibiotics in order to eliminate the infection.
If you follow these rules and you still have issues, you may need to see a urologist. It's possible you have a restriction somewhere that is preventing you from fully emptying your bladder. This is done by passing a camera through the passage looking for issues.
