Title: Got the go ahead for HRT!
Post by: 2.B.Dana on March 04, 2017, 01:00:08 PM
Just wanted to share that I am excited about my therapist agreeing to do my HRT letter! She is emailing it to me to send in to my VA doctors to begin the prescription. I know its just another step but definitely one I have looked forward to in the process of transition.

Cheers,
Dana

Congratulations Dana,

I hope it doesn't take long to actually start. Take it from me it is a good ride.

Just curious as to why you didn't just go through the VA to get started?  I came out to my VA primary care doctor and he had some questions to satisfy himself that I was trans and asked if I wanted to get my HRT through the VA.
I was a bad girl and had obtained them elsewhere (not recommended btw) and had been taking the about a month my that time. That may have had something to do with it even though it's not supposed to. I am getting mine from the VA now and am in the process of getting a gender therapist to help with all ther other aspects of becoming a woman.

  Hugs,
    Jeanette

I "came out" for the lack of a better explanation to my VA psychiatrist.  I wasn't definitely sure of anything at that point, lots of assumptions but nothing concrete. She felt a gender specialist was best and that's what they sent me to.  After that I met with my endo and he agreed to assist once I had been to therapy. That's the point we are at now. Hoping this road will help with my anxiety and depression issues in the long run and I can get off the head meds.
Cheers,
Dana

I get it... Following doctor's orders. The path we trod to get to our destination is not as important as getting there if that is where we are supposed to be.

  Congrats again, Dana.

  Hugs.
