I'm Sammie and although I have been a secret crossdresser for as long as I can remember, I have only recently taken things up a level. I have finally come out to my wife and she has been amazingly supportive and kind. We have started going out together, shoppping, pubs etc. She even came with me to my first proper makeup consultation. Now, the chances are that I will never really be in a position to live full time as the woman I would like to but, my wife and I are trying to make more time for Sammie in our lives where we can.
However, we both thought it would be a good idea if I had a few friends, to chat with, go out with and just have a casual buddy who "shares my interest". Support groups, TV/TG clubs are fine but, they are all a bit "on scene" for what I'm looking for.
A shopping pal, somebody to lunch with, that sort of thing.
Not sure if this is the best place to post but, if anyone wants to try and spark up a chat, come say hi.

Hi Sammie ( and spouse )
I'm Jeanette, 64, mtf and self appointed unofficial greeter. (waves enthusiastically) HI! You have already had an Official greeting by V M. (There will be a few more official ones coming yet) But.... You haven't had an unofficial one from me! (YA )
Come in , come in, both of you. Devlyn just swept the floor so please wipe your feet first. Come in and have a seat over there on the sofa. (get up and let them sit down Dena) Sheesh some people right? Here let me get you both something to drink. Is soda, tea or water okay? I don't do alcohol anymore so you'll have to get that yourself if that is your choice. I hope you are comfortable. Take a few moments to read some of the posts that interest you, Go ahead and make a comment of two if you feel like it. Tell us some more about yourselves so we can get to know you as you get to know us. We even have an area for our SOs to share with other SOs.
Sammie I'm impressed with you and your wife going out in public and doing things together with you en femme. I don't do that yet. Too scared. And coming out to your wife that was a big step also. I too started out as a crossdresser. For many many years it was enough for me. or so I thought. Recently I decided I needed more and started HRT. That doesn't have to be your path at all. I love that your wife is supportive. That can help a lot. some of us weren't so lucky. I was married a long time, and yes she knew, but in my case my dressing was at best tolerated and I know it played a part in our eventual divorce. One of my great failings. I say mine because I believe divorcing me was the best thing she could do for herself at the time.
What I'm saying is you're lucky to have a wife willing to not only put up with your dressing but is willing to help with your needs. Cherish her.
Anyway I am glad you both are here and wish you find what you are looking for. There are many good people here willing to help.
Hugs,
Jeanette

Greets Sammie
I'm a noob here too, I've found it a very warming and friendly place. So just to say hi and welcome in the tradition that greeted me when I first stuck my head through the door. ;D

Thanks everyone for saying hello. Looks like we've found a friendly place :)
VM - I did read the rules before I joined but, i would be grateful if anyone pointed out if I'm missing something. (Especially with regards to the "Personal Adds" etc. as this is not my intention. Just hoping to find some friends locally at some point.)
Jeanette - Thanks for being so friendly, its nice to get a grasp of the atmosphere. You're right, I'm very lucky to have my beautiful SO and I hope that she understands that she will always come first.
Shy - I'm having a bit of a browse tonight. Glad to see its not all militant posters trying to push their own agenda. Seems a friendly place.
I think we're gonna like it here :)
