What were your first impressions of a urinal like?  I remember telling my dad I was going to use it, and feeling really frustrated that I wasn't allowed to. 
Now that I can use them, it definitely feels validating. 

I remember thinking why aren't men given the privacy women are.

Maybe I'm odd but I still prefer the stall.

That's why the man code dictates that there one shall leave one urinal space between all urinal users unless the number of users and the urgency of the situation makes this impossible.

Nowadays modern facilities for men, at least in Canada, are built with '<XXXXXXX> walls' (actual term)

The greatest thing grown men have to fear is someone else looking at their unit.

Travelling the United States, and even when working with the odd American company coming up here to do a job, I observed a completely different culture of bathroom ettiquette; men would have full conversations in the washroom urinals! They would make eye contact, actually turn to look at one another while doing their business to talk! Nobody seemed to be as self conscious about it.

Here in Canada there are actually books about proper urinal/mens room ettiquette. How far away from another man you have to stand if hes there first. If there's two men there first, how to safely choose the RIGHT guy to be closer too so people dont think youre strange, and when no 'safe' (non homosexual) choice exists, its expected to use the stall. No eye contact. Dont speak, grunt if spoken too. Handwashing optional, especially if drunk.

Creepy stuff. Creepier still some gave it enough thought to publish literature on the subject..

(I wont lie though, about the only thing I'll miss is the ability to stand and pee if necessary.)

Brain surgery, commanding a fleet in battle, or even defusing a bomb all pale in comparison to the serious nature of urination. ;D

In the US, CEO's meet on the golf course, Investment Executives meet over dinner, Sales Reps meet at lunch, Administrative Specialists meet at Starbucks, and IT staff meet at the urinals.

The worst places are sports venues. O.M.G, it's like cavemen in there! They're basically just big communal troughs in most cases. If you're shy, these places will help you get over it.
     Add to that, there's always the brave women who are willing to walk in, professing that "there ain't no way I'm standing in line for an hour and missing the game just to pee!". So "look out guys, I'm coming in!"  :laugh: :laugh: :laugh:

Those troughs at sports venues are the worst by far, can see all the way down the line with one look.

Guess the designer assumed we'd all be too drunk to care. Also didn't think far ahead enough about how pint glasses would end up stacked in the trough, of course.

I'm more put off by those too drunk to leave their bar stool itself and urinate there.. (male and female.)

Lol. As someone who's worked in big nightclubs... there's always worse than some drunk peeing to find at the end of the night.

Yeah... I dont miss bouncing one bit... I think the funniest thing I ever ran into though was a group of popped collars rubbing eachothers chests down with prep h in the alley beside the club. Supposedly they believed it would tighten their muscles so they were constantly flexed and girls would think they were just shredded naturally. [emoji12]

I was always uncomfortable using a urinal (individual or trough) when next to another guy.  I, also, frequently got the last squirt after tucking it back in, leaving a wet spot on my trousers.

I finally decided to use the stall, and even sit to pee.  I found that to be a more private and pleasant experience.  The only problem with that is the lack of an adequate number of stalls, sometimes only one, in the male restrooms. This tends to force men to use the urinal even if they find that to be unacceptable.
