Title: Can you experience facial fat redistribution after 2 years of hrt?
Post by: Angélique LaCava on March 17, 2017, 05:03:34 PM
I'm not 2 years yet, but im wondering because I'm so close to being happy with my face, I just need a tiny bit of fat on my cheek bone. Is it possible hormones will still change the face somewhat after 2 years or are all the facial changes pretty much over with by then?

I would say anytime your body weight shifts up or down, this will happen ever so slightly, or perhaps even drastically.
(More so than the horomones all they're going to to is tell it where to go.)

Low chance to happen if it didnt happen in the first two year.   You should consider filler like  emervel and juvederm. It is doing wonder.

My face actually got more feminine between the 1.5-2 yr mark. Then I switched up my diet and started eating vegan for just under a year, and it changed again.

I've started eating meat again..

Facial changes happen over a lifetime and will depend on several factors including hormones (these can be adjusted over time, dose can be increased/decreased, another hormone may be added), other medications/supplements you are taking, stress, eating habits, lifestyle, overall health, age, etc. I'm 13 yrs post-HRT and I still see changes here and there.

Angelique,

Be patient. Hormones will give you more feminine cheeks in time. You are very feminine and too much fat on your cheeks may make you look overweight. I was overweight and that kind of face fat just sags and creates doggie cheeks. Not pretty, but FFS took care of them.

The changes will keep on for well beyond 2 years.  I have a few sisters from my past that have been on HRT for almost 20 years.  When we look at their pictures from the beginning (inside 3 years) and year 5, the difference is dramatic.  Even without surgery.

I have read that gently massaging them can increase the muscle under the skin but it's not something I have tried because I'm afraid of breaking down the collagen in my skin.

If you want to increase the muscle under your cheeks, try smiling more often! ;D

I do I have been smiling ear to ear since transitioning. [emoji847] It must be infectious cause I see more people around me smiling too.

Yes it is very infectous. When I do my morning exercise trail, I meet many men and women. All I have to do is just look and smile at them and I almost always get a "Good Morning"!  Some were resistant at first, but now they are comming around and we greet each other whenever we walk by.

That's good to hear. I'm glad you're transition seems to be going well.I'm still very self conscious about my voice though, despite all the vids on YouTube I'm still struggling with that part of my transition. But most people I talk to don't seem to mind that I'm transgender.

I am going to agree with elobo.

I just went on youtube and look up 2 years of hormones. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=9j4rnvavZF4

And I look at her recent videos (not looking at surgeries, aging, and voice), but her face look the same as fat distribution goes.... there's probably more examples out there. So I am glad for all the pep talk on this thread, I think she hit the diminishing returns, (if not very soon) as far as fat goes.
