Title: So, what generates discharge? (And when does it stop)

So yep, i suppose it's a stupid question. Looking at my liners at 3 months post-op, right now it's between transparent and yellow (with some weird days a bit of brown / dark), that makes me wonder if the yellow part may be an urine leak (which I hope it's not). I suppose that half of it is leftover lube mixed with dead skin cells since it the vaginal walls are skin instead of muscle like in a cis vagina, but the other half... is the vaginal wall still segregating something at 3 months post op? I imagined that once the scars are properly healed it would stop, and that vag is not supposed to self lubricate, right?
I also wonder if this will stop completely. Most of the days I can go with just one liner from morning to bedtime, although the more I walk, the more I discharge and nee a new one in the middle of the day. The discharge goes down a lot after the weekly douching. Like I want to go to the beach and not want to wear a liner to the water, but I don't want to look like a legged slug either.

I'm about 3 and a half months post op. I only use the liners for a couple of hours right after dilation then I remove them. after that I only see a small dot or a thin line of discharge and it's always clear.
I think it's still left over lube.

At 3 months you are due for a bottom examination. Brown sounds like old blood released by dilations and if so, you may have proud flesh/granulation that needs to be treated. Besides that, you shouldn't go swimming until a doctors clears you because if you still have an open wound, it might get infected. Depending on the type of surgery you had, the time to heal will vary from person to person so three months doesn't determine where you are in the healing process.

I was seen at emergencies due to that episode of bleeding from a tear. Opinion was that it had healed pretty well, but they did not check the internals. Chett said i did not need to go to the gyno, but... i guess I can ask my GP. I'm getting on the bike again in 10 days.
For the last 2 days it has been almost transparent, at least. Not even yellow spots.

Hi Apsharas
Be patient with the discharge. I'm also a Chett girl, and it was pretty damp down there for 6 months while everything was healing. As long as there is no obvious infection with pain or pus you just need to wait and give your body time.
Regards
Julia

Many cis girls have a some discharge all the time, especially during parts of the month and I am not including normal period discharge.

When I saw the title of the thread I threw my Van de Graaff generator in the trunk of my Tesla and charged right over.

I am 4.5 months post op. I have discharge to. I shower after morning dilation and clean the vaginal canal a few inches in. I dry pack as instructed by Papillion. If I did not dry pack I would have wet panties at the crotch and an odor. I change the packing when I pee and the packing is saturated.
I am assuming it is lube and some moisture. When I exercise at the gym I wear a pad because the moisture is quite a bit. I dilate 3 times a day. At 6 months, May 15 I go to one dilation a day and hope that reduces the moisture.
The discharge is clear and at times has some very minor white bits, I assume fluffing off vaginal liner. There is a slight odor but not bad, normal I assume.

Yesterday I saw the gyno. He said everything inside and outside looks perfectly healthy and closed (so no issue with swimming), except for some redness on the entrance (either the tear still healing or that I had dilated before going there). So no yeast infection or anything.
Lately I wonder if the yellowish thing may be caused by the clitoris and labia minora, and how crap ends accumulating there until one day i start cleaning it carefully with the detachable shower head and moving the skin so that I can reach everything properly. The rest of the liner looks mostly "moist" lately. Yesterday I forgot to bring one for after showering at the gym, but the underwear was still dry when 90 minutes later I arrived home.
After asking about douching advice, he agreed that betadine after 3 months was overkill, and i was given a few samples of this:

the yellow discharge could possibly be the scabbing from the skin grafts inside the vagina shedding. Some of it may come out for several months in small pieces and can cause the surrounding mucus and lube from dilating to be yellow.
completely normal. I've been told it can be possible for up to 6 months.
I use a long maxi pad w/out wings in my panties. I am 6 weeks post-op.

I struggled with discharge on and off for a bit over the first 12 months or so. I think it was as others stated above a combination of lube, dead sloughing skin cells etc. I think the regular mild detergent douching prescribed by dr Meltzer early post-op was a good idea to keep things clean but I did find later once I felt more healed that any kind of douching was counterproductive. I never douche anymore and haven't had discharge in a long time. I think douching has a pretty negative effect in unbalancing our natural microflora and using any will essentially wipe out the existing equilibrium and set up a new battle for all bacteria and therefore a higher chance of getting imbalance and either infections or at least odor and some discharge.
I did try some oral probiotics for a while but didn't find they helped very much. Our vaginal pH and moisture levels are different and so I'm not convinced some of the ones touted for helping rebalance vagina lol microflora help much.

I'm closing in on 6 months post op and still have discharge to. Then again I had a large amount of granulation I was fighting against. Hugs

Ugh I wore liners for a year. But I did have a LOT of granulation and got treated for it constantly.
