Title: Embarrassing problem
Post by: roseyfox on March 26, 2017, 11:23:23 AM
So for the last 6 months i beed having night time accidents and wetting the bed. I been on hormones for about a year as of about two weeks ago. It furst started out as nightmare causeing me to have the accudens eventually those stop amd the bedwetting countinue. At first my doctor thought it was stress then he sent me to a sleep doctor after having a few othe symptoms and i was told i have narcolepsy. Though my doctor telling me that the narcolepsy is not the main cause of the accidents but stress is and the narcolepsy just kinda makes ir worst.

Was curious if any one else ever had these troubles and how to tollerate it.

Did the doctor check for blood in the urine? It sounds like a few years ago when I had recurring prostititus. King of like a urinart tract infection but bacteria get inside the prostate. Took taking strong antibiotics a few times over a year and a half to get rid of it for good. Could also be a UTI also.

Besides a UTI, there is another possibility. The narcolepsy may be resulting in a very deep sleep that's preventing you from waking up when you need to go. If you are on Spiro, you should consider taking your last dose long before bed time so most of it's effects have worn off by then. Another thing is to have your last fluid intake a couple of hours before bed time and go to the bathroom just before sliding between the covers. I have never had issues with bed wetting but I have had wake up calls because of excessive fluid intake before bed. If you tend to wake with a dry mouth at night. Put a glass of water by your bedside should you need it in the middle of the night.

I agree with Dana. Spiro is a diuretic used for fluid build up in congestive heart failure. I have been on it for 25 years only recently did I have my dosage increased. On top of Spiro, I also take furosemide / Lasix.  If I take my doses too late in the day, I am up all night. So far my record is seven times getting up to pee in one evening. Avg pee time is about a minute, minute and a half.

Not uti he check for that an i do take my spiro early in the day and tryed cut back liquid and not drink caffine it helps some but it dosen't stop it.  Maybe just the stress of transition and work and stuff. But it such a annoying problem.

The only thing I can think of that's left is the narcolepsy causes you to sleep so deep that you don't wake up when you need to go. I believe there is a mediation to help control that but I don't know if it's appropriate for you. You will need to discuss that with whoever is dealing with your sleeping issues.
