My Aetna handler messaged me saying Dr. Cooley's CPD code used was incorrect and to contact them for the correct code. He could have provided the code.
Any help would be appreciated.

Hey Rachel,
I believe you're looking for CPT codes, not cpd.
These are procedure codes, that usually need to be used in conjunction with diagnosis codes. Basically the cpt code is "what's being done" and the diagnostic code is "why is it being done"
The two corresponding cpt codes for hair transplants are
HAIR TRANSPLANTATION
CPT Code Description
15775 Punch graft for hair transplant; 1 to 15 punch grafts
15776 Punch graft for hair transplant; more than 15 punch grafts
Sounds like the claim might have been for 1-15 hairs or vice versa. (Assuming you did more than 15 hairs use 15776

I use this resource for all my transgender related hair coding.
The ICD 10 code (billing) you would want to use is F64.1 (dual role transsexualism)
This F64.1 is used for any prre GCS services or surgeries. Basically let's the insurance company know that your getting a hair transplant as part of your gender transition.
Hope this helps!
If you have any questions let me know. I'll help if I can
