Hi, VacuousRom!
Welcome to the site.

I noticed that your post was asking about starting an androgen blocker, but was over in the Non-transitioning and Detransitioning area.  I think you might get a better response in the Hormone Replacement Therapy area, and have moved your post there.

You might want to make a longer post telling us a little bit about yourself in our Introductions (https://www.susans.org/forums/index.php/board,8.0.html) area.

I hope you feel welcome here.

I also want to share some links with you. They are mostly welcome information and the rules that govern the site. If you have not had a chance to take a look, please take a moment to go through them.

Your counselor should have some expertise in gender issues, but once you have a letter of recommendation for Hormone Replacement Therapy, you should see an Endocrinologist for the prescriptions. Depending on how far you want to take transition, you will need a second letter by another therapist who must be a PhD, in order to get surgery.

In the meantime, do not forget electrolysis, hair and make-up and clothes. It is all part of a successful transition.

Also don't overlook voice training and some behavior coaching if you can get it.  As my therapist says "it doesn't matter how gorgeous you are if you act and sound like a guy."

In her defense, we were talking about being stealthy.

That said, the coolest women I've met were pretty tomboyish so maybe you're on to something?  ;D

Or Ob/Gyn or GP, they can also prescribe.

I've done neither and I pass fine. I think the goal of transition is to be yourself, free yourself from norms. Behavior coaching would only force you to be, once again, what you are not just to belong and be accepted by others.

On the other hand I see it as becoming who I was supposed to be, not what I was forced to be.  Unlearning a few bad habits if you will.  It's also not to please others so much as to make myself feel right.

EDIT: this is definitely a different strokes for different folks topic.
