Ohh woe is me, did anybody of you go to the beach or to a waterpark lately?
My family is going swimming at the local waterpark, and everything's been a mess in my head, we won't go until the next two weeks, I didn't even have a swimsuit recently, so I asked my always trusty mom about it, we went shopping, I told her that I don't feel conftable showing skin, my breasts are beginning to grow and under no condition would I go around topless like those men (*shudders), we found a pretty pink short for me and a white blouse that is small but stretches a lot, she told me that I should also use my training bra under that... So that takes care of the swimsuit (she also promised she would buy me a pretty hat next week).
I want to go but I also fear going there, and while I'm pretty good at hiding my bits and my look doesn't bother me I find myself thinking "what if I need to go to the bathroom?" I will go there with my swimsuit on, but if I need to change when we go home? What to do?
The park got sued last year because they didn't let in a color person, but it the only one in miles so that's where we're going, I think that's making me more nervous...
How would you deal with that? Am I worrying too much? :embarrassed:

This is a good question and I hope you will receive some good replies and suggestions because I think about this myself, I have not gone swimming in over ten years since I started transitioning and I would love to be able to go swimming.

Hello,
I remember the anxiety of my first time going to a beach in my bathing suit :o :o I cannot relate to going to a beach that is known to discriminate, but I did go to a very popular beach here on the east coast when I was in my first 3months of transition and by no means did I pass. I did get strange looks from the guy collecting tickets to go on to the beach. However, no one said or did anything mean to me. I did get the occasional stares, but I felt that I had a right to be there just like anyone else.
As far as bathrooms and changing, just have confidence when going to the restrooms. Act like you belong there because, well, you do :) When you have to change, just bring a skirt or dress that you can put over your bottoms. Then you wont even have to go to the bathrooms to change :) Best of luck!!!

Can only wish you best of luck! I can't manage to hide my creature well enough, its always kinda obvious regardless of what internet advice I follow.. So I haven't been swimming for 13 years, cannot wait to get my SRS over with and get healed up so I can finally do it again! What a joy it will be.

thankyou for the good wishes everybody :)
My mom says I shouldn't worry too much, I think that as long as I'm calm and don't bother other people everything should be fine.
In any case I'll keep you informed, I hope to take some pictures too.

I bought a tankini with a skirted bottom. Perfect solution. No way did I pass and there was an air gap in the top but the guys smiled girls took a quick look and ignored me. I had been on hormones for 5 weeks.
Act like you belong. Be confident. I suggest not using a locker room if you can help it. Baggy shorts and tee shirt or a cover up or even a sundress to throw on over the suit would work.
Just remember, typically people don't care but they will complain at nudity.

Women sometimes go to "wild" beaches without facilities. Most women become practiced at changing publicly under a large shirt or skirt, as suggested above. Practice before you go.

Bring a coverup -- preferably a loose dress or caftan or something similar. Wear that over your suit whenever you are in the locker room. If you have to change for home, pull on the coverup, pull the suit out from underneath, put on dry clothes, ditch the coverup. And practice this at home before you go.
Last October while in Las Vegas I went swimming in a two piece bikini. I had only been on hormones for about four months. I wore denim midi shorts and a tank top over my bikini for the elevator ride down to the hotel pool. No one noticed me. I went swimming, laid out for half an hour, and then covered back up for the walk back to the room. It was one of my favorite experiences since transitioning. Hopefully I will be going to Palm Springs in May and back to Vegas in June and have two chances to repeat the experience.

I finally went swimming, here's proof :D

there were some weird looks as always, some dumb*** said "what the..." when I went into the locker room, it put me in a bad mood, when I was swimming some guys were playing rough near me, and one of them said "be careful with the girl!" the water was cold so I didn't swim much, but it's ok.

Congratulations, Alanna! You look great! I'm lucky in that my dad has a swimming pool I can use without going out in public. I hope I'm as brave as you are when it comes time to actually go to a beach.

Well if you're with family, just go along with them into the facilities if you feel better in numbers. I always see women and girls going to the bathroom in groups, and I live right on a beach. I guess some of them do their changing in there, others set up those wind partition things on the beach and do it surrounded by those, or 'cover' each other by the car etc.

Last week, I went to Haulover Beach in Miami. Yes the north end of the public beach. Everybody had nothing to hide! :D

good for you Sweetie,
I bet it gets easier each time now.
I just ignore everyone who looks at me funny. Their problem, not mine.
