Hello Sydneysiders (and former Sydneysiders) !
I am scheduled to undergo SRS on the 17th July with Dr Sanguan Kunaporn.
I am worried about finding a doctor that can provide affirmative surgical aftercare upon my return to Sydney. I just want to make sure I'm not completely alone and 5,000 Kms and several timezones away from my help if I run into problems.
There are a couple of things I worried about:
- Potential Vaginal Infection during first 3-6 months
- Granulation tissue growth making dilation difficult or impossible
- Problems with tight pelvic floor muscles making dilation difficult
- Those heart-wrenching stories from women who have experienced unexplained vaginal closure despite strict adherence to their dilation regimes
I spoke to Taylor Square. They are certainly comfortable providing generalised trans medical health including basic gynaecological care for post-op women (which is reassuring!), but I did get the sense that they don't have a lot of experience dealing with complications arising during surgical recovery (such as the above issues).
Can anyone recommend a surgeon or physician in Sydney that has experience in dealing with post-op complications. Just so I have a plan of where to go if I do run into problems.
Or am I boxing with shadows and these problems are so rare that no one really has much experience dealing with them?
Thanks so much!

If you see Dr Hayes you could try asking his advice. He's got thousands of trans patients and seems to know all sorts of things.
