Title: Which method of HRT is better?
Post by: Kadence1 on April 23, 2017, 10:38:34 PM
I have an upcoming doctor appointment to check my hormone levels and potassium levels. I'm thinking about switching to injections? I heard that's the best method for feminization effects. I currently take my pill sublingually (under the tongue.) what do you guys think? Also, are the injections bio-identical? Thank you!!!!! I'll be positing pics on my 3 month mark! Couple more weeks (;

My advice is do whatever feels the most comfortable.  For me, taking HRT pills feels like how many cis girls take "the pill" everyday.  It feels like a fair analog.  Injections to me seem like a "last resort" solution for if HRT pills aren't working.  I prefer not to inject anything into my body.  I also think it sounds like an urban myth that the injections are any more effective than pills.

I also think that testosterone suppression is extremely important, and the most effective way to do that is surgical intervention.  If you really wanted a way to have "better effects" or better health in general, I'd say that should be your plan over injections of estrogen.

They is no one better way.  They both will give you what you are going to get.  Based on genetics and body makeup..I started on pills I now take injections, honestly the progress is about the same for me.  Remember its a marathon not a sprint.  And congratulations on this step

I've been told patch, injection, or implant are better than pills as they provide a more consistent delivery than pills.

If I could easily inject by myself I'd due it in a heartbeat. Alas I'm stuck with patches. Dexterity issues.

I prefer implants. It's well over a year now between getting them and I can just forget about it most of the time. Also very high and stable levels (hence emotions).

My Dr only does injections.  When asked why he said it's easier on the rest of the body.  About 1/3 of my Dr's patients are transitioning.  And he's busy!

Implants are what my Dr recommends and they last about 4-5 months on me...I also take oral as a boost to ensure my levels are high. On pills I was far more up and down with my emotions... the lows and highs even out more but I have put on weight, apart from that I like them

Injections consist of either estradiol cypionate or estradiol valerate which both break down to estradiol in the body so yes, these are bio-identical. I switched to injections from oral/sublingual and found that although my skin/hair improved and I felt better in general, my breast growth came to a stop and breasts even shrunk. So, it depends. I found taking pills sublingually was annoying so just took them orally. Same result, no difference.

On injections, my levels fluctuate much more despite injecting every 5 days.

The pill cisgirls take is very different from what we take. It contains a far more harmful form of estrogen called ethinyl estradiol combined with a non bio-identical form of progestogen, sometimes androgenic and often posing certain health risks. It is also not taken daily, there is a break to allow for menstrual bleeding.

Injections, because bio-identical and given non-orally, pose little risk under the supervision of a doctor. They also effectively suppress testosterone due to higher levels and negative feedback at the pituitary gland and hypothalamus.

Have been in HRT since July 1 2015 Estradiol Pills and Spiro. Now I stopped Spiro one month ago because I had an Orchiectomy. I feel great. My Dr will not give me injections because of the changes in E levels. I am hitting now between 250 and 300 in E regularly.

I have my doctor's office give me an injection every week for my estrodiol valerate and I take a pill daily for progesterone. I think of my EV shot as the highlight of my week!
