Although HB2 was repealed/amended, many US states are currently considering passing similar laws.

How would you, personally, be affected by laws which would require people to use bathrooms or changing facilities in correspondence to one's biological sex, or sex as determined by a birth certificate?

(I'm asking for educational purposes. Thank you so much.)

I was born in TN and it's 1 of 3 states that does NOT allow you to change or amend the gender on your birth certificate even after surgery so I would be breaking the law going into the women bathroom under the birth certificate requirement. All my other documents (Driver's license, passport, etc) have female on them. Any such law would not keep me from using the women's bathroom if such a law was put into place and I would challenge it in court if something happened, but it's really unenforceable except at the public school level for kids. Most likely if I was ever questioned by law enforcement they would just look at me ID because no one really carries around their birth certificate. I'm fortunate to have passing privilege and have never had any issues in the women's bathroom, but I know I would certainly have issues in the mens room that's for sure.

These laws hurt transgender kids and attempts to take make it harder for transgender individuals to come out. It's a way for the Extreme Right to keep us in the closet.

I wouldn't be affected yet since I still use the men's room, but I just wanted to complain that bathroom bills force pretty girls into the men's room and big burly men into the women's room...

It works out good if you enjoy being pretty around little boys!

Or if you enjoy being manly around little girls as well. Sorry, almost forgot our trans brothers. Start them out young, that's what I say! The earlier a kid can identify as trans the better the potential transition results. This bathroom crap is a great way for us to be visible.

It keeps me from wanting to travel to the USA.

No bathroom bills where I am currently. If there were I'd use the disabled toilets or go pee outside against the wall if the chances of arrest are practically less.

Otherwise I'd just have take my chances using whichever facility was available if there was no getting around using a public one.

I currently am pre-op and still have M driver's license.  I use the woman's room exclusively.  Basically I would ignore it.

Well lets see, all of my ID says female, I've had SRS, my birth certificate (from a state that I never lived in) says male. How is anyone even going to find my birth certificate? And if they do, it doesn't match my body, so it must be wrong.
They can pass all the laws they want, you'll still find me in the ladies room.
These laws are ridicules. I agree with Sydney the only ones this really hurts are the school age kids.

Charley - You mean that you never lived in your birth state, not even right after your birth? Were your parents just passing through the state when you were born?

Personally, these bills affect me in no way.  All my documents say female, and so does my vagina.  Ok, I guess they do affect me, inasmuch as, I am guarded still to ensure that I can PROVE I am female in the event of a confrontation in the ladies room.  But, I have never even come close to feeling like anyone was taking, or has taken, issue with me peeing somewhere.  And I will be darned if I am going to carry my BC around.  My wife and 17 year old daughter don't carry theirs, so I am not going to carry mine.

Technically I guess I did live there for a couple of weeks. My father was stationed there and was discharged a couple of weeks after I was born and we returned to Illinois. How would anyone who does not know me very well ever be able to figure out what state I was born in and track down my BC?

The other side of the coin which is my only problem with the bathroom bills is how easy it would make it for perverts to prey on kids. There sure isn't any shortage of pedophiles and for those of you down under no, that is hardly a U.S. only problem. There currently is no bathroom bill/law in my state and because of fearing for the kids that may not be a bad thing.
