Title: FaceApp

I was wondering if anyone has played with the app called "FaceApp"? It provides filters that one can apply to make their photo look old, young, female, or male. I feel like it is a bit helpful because it makes me hopeful about what I might look like after transitioning. I combined this with a different app called "YouCam Makeup". Below is the result and I would love if I could look like that, right now.

What do you think?

Quote from: SiobhánF on April 26, 2017, 08:59:27 AMIt's probably not 100% realistic, from what I read on another thread, but still, even if I could look 60% of what face app shows that would be a success. Your pic looks realistic to me, hard to say when there is no reference point.

Just for fun, here are my face app creations
I kind of hate this app for giving me a false hope you know...(https://uploads.tapatalk-cdn.com/20170426/efadd8bfeadfcf0fcfdd55c1eece68ff.jpg)(https://uploads.tapatalk-cdn.com/20170426/8ad024e4f942a86d23b67d0a7a7241bb.jpg)(https://uploads.tapatalk-cdn.com/20170426/cecfde61f000a2c92c9087ace5b26ed5.jpg)

Yeah, it's not real. My face is more masculine, normally. I like how it made me look, but I couldn't really say for sure if it's how I would turn out. Do you think it puts an unrealistic expectation on one's transition? I'm not holding my breath for anything, but I will do my best to become the me I know I am inside.

Lol, silly apps. Can't expect perfection from an AI, right?

I hear ya. Looking at the comparison of my face put through my makeup app and one with my face put through the FaceApp and the same makeup styles, there's more contrast than likeness. It seems nearly impossible, so I think I'm going to need FFS.

Well, obviously we need someone who went through ffs to use face app on their old pics and compare it to what they look like now...
Any volunteers? 😅

No, I'm not on HRT, yet. I just turned 33. The photo you saw is from the app, itself, and is only approximately accurate. My face is a little longer, with a squarer(?) jawline, and my eyes aren't nearly as big, compared to the photo above. I would only need work on my brow area, upper lip, jawline, and my adam's apple. I don't think I'd need anything done to my cheeks, though.

Yeah, I feel that way now, but like you said, we'll see what we'll need.

I took a picture in drab and I got such a close crew-cut that it shows me as a bald female, so I used it on my profile pic and the change was slightly different. Basically my brows were thinner. I do love the ones with the smile though, something I need to do more of.

I already have MPB, so it initially made me look like a cancer survivor (I'm not trying to give cancer survivors a negative connotation, it's just my reaction to the photo). Thus the reason for putting my photo through a makeup app that lets me add different hair styles. I think it's a fun app, but it can also give trans people false hope and expectations that lead to disappointment and further depression. Kind of a bittersweet thing, imo. I think that, as long as one doesn't have any illusions about what their transition will lead to, it can be a nice form of escapism (much the same as reading a novel, listening to music, watching movies/tv shows, etc.).
