April 10, 2017, Kaiser performed its 1st in-house GCS in Southern California.
I volunteered to be my surgeons 1st attempt at performing this surgery.
Kaiser uses 2 surgeons to perform this surgery.
A urologist that does the disassembly / disposal of unneeded parts / creation of cavity for the vagina.
And a plastic surgeon to put it all together.
My urologist: POLINA REYBLAT MD
My plastic surgeon: MELISSA MOON-NAN POH MD
My surgeons studied/scrubbed in with Dr Salim, Dr Kuzon, Dr Preecha, and somebody in Europe, I didn't catch the name.
The people that have seen my new equipment say they have done an incredible job, as good as Bowers / Satterwhite / McGwinn

Congratulations. I've felt like a guinea pig myself at times. Sounds like it was worth the risk.
Hope you have a speedy recovery.

Hi, Rose_TG!
Wow. That takes a bit of courage. I know that a surgeon has been through many procedures under supervision before they 'solo', but it still takes some confidence to step up and be the docs first solo patient. FWIW, I'm in Kaiser NorCal, and it looks like my doctors will be Dr. Ali Salim (https://mydoctor.kaiserpermanente.org/ncal/provider/alisalim) and Dr. Thomas (https://mydoctor.kaiserpermanente.org/ncal/provider/carllthomas).
It is always nice to see a post-op gal new on the site, and willing to provide some information for those of us not quite that far along a medical path.
I hope you feel welcome here.
I also want to share some links with you. They are mostly welcome information and the rules that govern the site. If you have not had a chance to take a look, please take a moment to go through them.
Once again, welcome to Susan's. Look around, ask questions and join in.

Dr Salim & Thomas supervised my surgery...
Very cool! I had heard that they were working on bringing additional surgeons into the program to improve availability. Sounds like that is happening! (Maybe my surgery date will be brought in a bit :) )

Hi, I wonder if you could tell me if electrolysis was required, how long it took to do the electrolysis, and whether Dr. Poh does the "Partial" or "zero-depth" procedure? Please PM me if possible. I'm hoping to find someone who has received Kaiser emails from Dr. Poh's office so they could email them for me and ask these questions.
I'm glad it went well!
Wendy
