Hi
I am so excited. After so many years of repression I have finally told my best friend a couple of days ago that I am transitioning. We have been friend for a very long time, and after me explaining everything to him, he accepted it and kept on saying I should go for it! He said we will still always be friends, and accepted it! I have been hiding this for so long, and it felt so good to know that someone that knows me so well could understand what I told him. It also gave me a lot of confidence to know that there is at least one person that I can fall back to when I eventually come out to everyone. :icon_dance:
Since my last post, I got advice on these forums to book a therapist asap. I have steadily beengetting everything ready, and I have booked an appointment with a transgender friendly doctor at an institution that specializes in this area. The appointment is tomorrow morning, and I am quite nervous, but at the same time terribly excited! I am finally moving my life to where I need to be!
The doctor is female, and I will first have to explain that I have done some self medicating. I am planning to go to this appointment to come out to her, and explain my whole situation. I am most likely going to be told to get blood work done asap. I have previously self medicated for short periods of time on Finasteride, Spironolactone and Estradiol. That was a while ago though and for the last bit I have been on a naturally feminizing diet of Spearmint and Red Clover tea, as well as brown rice and flax seeds. I had to do this in an attempt to try and stop the testosterone, and prevent further aging as a male.
It will be very interesting to see how things go from here. All I want now is proper professional health care. I need anti androgen, and estrogen so badly. I feel so much better when I have estrogen in my system. My brain is craving it already..
I have already started my long term plan. I have gone from being a muscled guy of 198lbs when I was married and trying to run away from my dysphoria to now being slim and weighing only 169lbs and still losing weight with diet and exercise. I think if I start hormones and continue along with my current type of regimen, I could get to 154lbs and less when extra muscles come off. I then want to save up while I still present as male at work, until I can get FFS done. I want a jaw and chin reduction, as well as a rhinoplasty.
Well there is much more in the future, and everything is looking good for now. Just so excited about tomorrow, and I am hoping for the best..
Wish me luck gals

Hi Justine,
I read your post and I'm thinking I could have written that while checking off items as I read. The order is a little different but it's close enough.
Coming out to someone - check
Coming out to more soon - check and it will get easier as you go. I still have several "must tells" to do.
Self medicate before seeing a doctor - check but I was still doing it when I told my doctor and self medicating is NOT recommended. Do it right if you're reading this and thinking about it. See a doctor first. There that was for newer folk not you Justine, You were a bad girl just like I was. Now we are reformed bad girls.
get a therapist- check I too followed that advice from EVERYBODY here at Susan's
Was apprehensive about seeing the therapist- check But Justine it was no big deal. One I got inside I found my fears baseless. Now I have someone I can talk to and be honest with who is non judgemental. And the best advice I can give is to relax and be honest. She can't help you if she does have all the data.
So you are doing great Justine. Keep your eye looking forward to the end result you want and work for it.
Hugs,
Laurie

I am so elated! The appointment went very well! I did burst out in tears at one stage, but since it was a therapist/doctor, she immediately prescribed me Estradot patches as well as Finasteride and Spironolactone! I also got all my blood tests done, and I am just waiting for the results of that to come back.
I have already picked up meds, and I am starting my journey under professional healthcare tonight!
Most excited I have ever been in my life.
Love you all!
