Title: Choking in sadness
Post by: redhot1 on May 07, 2017, 03:41:20 PM
I just cried for a little while today because this whole week I've been reading about a mystical prophet "messenger of God" foresaw WW3 beginning on May 13, Saturday. Now I'm choking in sadness, looking back at my life knowing that I was a loser my entire life that never achieved anything at all. It's really painful. I pray that God spares us away from having to face the world ending in our lifetime.

When have those "prophets" ever been right?  Just ignore them and their nonsense.

He's the one who also foresaw the election of Donald Trump and predicted his strike in Syria. He's not the only source for horrible 2017 prophecies.

People have been predicting the end of the world for thousands of years, and they all have one thing in common; their apocalyptic predictions have never come true. This latest prediction is no different, so ignore it.

Here's an idea: plan something nice to do on the 14th. That way, when WW3 doesn't materialise on Saturday (it had better not: it's Eurovision on Saturday night!) :D you can celebrate by doing something nice on Sunday.

There's no such thing as a mystical prophet or a 'messenger of god'; as others have said they're all a bunch of charlatans and they've all been proven wrong every single time. They get off on whipping up hysteria amongst their followers: both as a way of making money, and as a way of stroking their own egos. Many of them are later proven to be either sociopaths or psychopaths, which makes them very good at manipulating people. Pay them absolutely no mind... and when you wake up on Sunday to see that the world hasn't erupted in chaos (at least, no more than usual!), use this as evidence that such claims should always be taken with a massive pinch of salt.

FWIW, I also foresaw the election of Donald Trump: I told my daughter last summer that politics tends to swing from one extreme to another, and that Obama's policies had been too left-wing for Trump-supporting types so they'd come out in droves to vote him in and swing the pendulum back in their direction. Likewise, I hereby predict that Trump will be a one-term president because he's too right-wing for the Obama-supporting types, so they'll do the same thing next time & will vote him out. If I'm proven right about Trump being a one-term president, would you think I'm a prophet? And what would you think if I'm wrong?

I'm definitely not a messenger of any gods though... I just used common sense & guessed correctly! Exactly like your 'prophet' did. Of course he'll brag after-the-fact about any of his guesses that turned out to be correct... but ask yourself this: how many times has he guessed incorrectly, and why doesn't he mention all of those incidences? I bet he's wrong far more than he's right, but he just keeps quiet about it. We can all throw a bunch of guesses against a wall and one or two will stick! ;)

Seriously, do yourself a favour & stop researching this subject: you're only upsetting yourself. And even if one of these predictions came true, is there anything you can do about it? No... so why worry yourself? ;)

If it's not going to matter in 5 years, don't spend more than 5 minutes being upset about it.

Whether or not the world comes to an end or dramatically changes for the worst, there is nothing that you as an individual can do at this moment in time to change it. So there is no use dwelling on the idea, or dwelling on past failures.

You can't change the past. All you can do is focus on making your future brighter, regardless of what happens in the rest of the world.

Just thought I'd pop back into this post with an update: at the time of this post it is nearly midnight BST on the 14th (so almost the 15th), which means the 13th is well & truly over everywhere around the world. And as expected, WW3 has not been declared! :)

I hope the OP is feeling reassured by the distinct lack of mushroom clouds, and can perhaps start to see that any so-called prophesies are not worth the paper they're written on. That's what makes the future both scary & exciting: nobody can predict what will happen... and people who claim to be able to do so usually don't have your best interests at heart.

The sky has not fallen, and another charlatan has been exposed. That's a win/win situation from where I'm standing.

Oh, and Eurovision was great fun too :D

Despite the end of the world, it looks like we're all still here!  So don't spend any more time worrying about that phony prophet guy.  It's all future from here on out.  Find something positive to do and do it!
