Hi all,
I have been inquiring with Som (Dr Chetts Right Hand Lady) :)
I was wondering how long it takes to get the two letters?
I am going thru VA atm and they have no "dedicated" transgender Docs. My Endo can't do it either.
Am I stuck at finding a Psychologist and Psychiatrist and then dedicating time with them before I get my Letters? That would suck!
I have been full-time since 2015, had BA done, Legal Name on all Documents changed.
I really don't want to have to find a Psychologist and Psychiatrist that require a lengthy relationship before they will write my Letters.
I plan on going to Dr Chett around Nov-Feb.
Here is what Dr Chett requires:
http://www.chet-plasticsurgery.com/scheduling-surgery-with-chettawut-plastic-surgery-center/required-documents-for-scheduling-sex-reassignment-surgery/
I NEED to have my letters within the next 3 months.
Thank you all for your help.

I believe if you pay extra Dr Chettawut will arrange for you to get both letters when you get there.

Chettawut require both lettera at least one month before the surgery but you can schedule way before!! You have more than three months so.. I'd suggest to find two psychiatrist and tell them your situation! Anyway, as AnonyMs said, if you pay an extra dr Chettawut will arrange you two interviews with local psychiatrist to get them while in thailand

Thanks.
I prefer to get the letters here, not in Thailand.
My whole question revolves around "How long does it take?"
I should have been more clear.

I think only a psychiatrist can answer, make it clear you need it as soon as possible.. You never had any therapy? Here is a must if you want to transition legally and medically, so I just asked the psychiatrist who followed me from the beginning and I just had to wait them for write and sign ahahah

Quote from: ClaudiaPitCar on May 11, 2017, 01:44:59 PMYes, I have a LCSW Therapist. She can not write these letters ( I asked). I also was seen by a Psychologist for my Dysphoria Diagnosis but havn't seen once since (2014).

My Legal aspects are all done.
The only thing NOT Female about me is downstairs.
So....
Now that I am pursuing GCS, I need two brand new letters and fast.

I see the word Psychiatrist used a lot here. You do NOT need letters form "Psychiatrists" you need them from a "Licensed" Psychologist or Therapist. You need (2) letters from Therapists and one of them needs to be from one who holds a PhD. . . . :)

I got one letter from a Psychologist and a second from a licensed Therapist in Chicago. I had never been to any kind of consoling prior to that. Both interviews were done over Skype and took less than an hour. I had my letters in hand less than a week later.
Both of these people have worked with transgender patients for several years. Both told me before the interviews that the amount of time they would need to spend with me before writing letters would depend on me, but that most people as far along as I was (and your even further) would only be an hour or two. My local LGBT clinic referred me to them.
PM me if you would like their names.

QuoteThe First Referral letter must come from only either a psychiatrist or a licensed psychologist.Again, I was asking about the timeframe, not which ones. I know which ones. Thank you however for the insight.
The Second Referral letter can come from a psychiatrist or licensed psychologist or sexologist or gender therapist.

I think how long it takes depends on who you see. I've heard of someone getting their first letter in only 20 minutes, in their first session with the psych. Worst case is probably horribly slow.
There's online psychs as well. You could look into Dr Graham Pevellier. I've heard Suporn accepts him, so Chettawut probably does.
Luckily it doesn't matter at the end of the day.

I was making the point, not so much for you, as the others who might read our posts and may not understand the nuance in a post. . . and I was referring to WPATH Standards :-) http://www.wpath.org/site_page.cfm?pk_association_webpage_menu=1351&pk_association_webpage=4655
