Title: Ignore topic function
Post by: Laurie on May 14, 2017, 12:17:14 PM
 Hi folks

Does anyone get tired of seeing a particular topic in the unread feed? You know that topic you personally have seen pop up way too many times for your liking?
Did you know that  in your profile under Modify profile there is an Ignore Topic Option? Yup it's right there just below the Ignore Boards Option. My problem is I can't figure out how to actually use it. Nor can I find and information about it's use. I use the ignore Boards option to keep myself out of trouble by making comments on those boards I have strong feelings on. For me that is the best solution, it's a matter of out of sight, out of mind and I am better off that way.
The ignore topic option is more to alleviate an annoyance. I just don't want to see them cluttering up my feed anymore. It's a small thing but does anyone know how to use it or if it is just non-functional?

Hugs,
   Laurie

I have asked this question before.  The ignore topic function is for when you have asked to be notified by mail or PM of new posts in your threads.  You can drop selected threads from the ones which will notify you.

That is different from looking at the "Show new replies to your posts" function, which does not depend on notifications.  There is no way to drop a thread from the list of threads you have posted to.  You just have to scan the list for the topics you are actually interested in still following and "Mark as read" all the rest.

I'd answer but I'm ignoring this topic......

No, seriously......

Try Modify profile/look and layout/ignore topics/method/fingers in ears and LALALALALA and you should be all set......

  Hi Kathy,

  I would tend to accept what you say had I not read the text in the option itself. It says;

Ignore Topics Options
You can ignore particular topics so that they will not appear in Unread/UnreadReplies nor the recent.
However they will still show in the BoardIndex and MessageIndex and you will still be able to access the topics.

As you can see it says it does remove them from the unread list.  Good try though :)

   Laurie

Devlyn covered it. The only other thin you can do is just mark that topic as read and it will disappear from the unread ones. Hugs

Hi Maria,

I took Devlyn's info as more of her silly  nonsense (which I do not mind) as her path does not compute on my screen there is no /ignore topics/method/fingers in ears in /look and layout/ and the la la la la la part is just pure Devlyn. (I've noticed this about her) One has to wonder how she managed to get released....

It seems to me that that text confused me too.  The problem is that there is no way to get a topic onto the ignore list.

That's ok Debra,

When the chatting on it stops I'll remove it.  That works to stop seeing it. LOL. I was just trying to see if I was doing something wrong.
