Hey, I was wondering if anyone could help me, I'm 2 weeks post op and everything seems to be going OK, but the past few days I have been getting lots of pinkish discharge from both my vagina and the bit between both labia this discharge smells kind of like a gym bag and in general is just pretty gross, also this morning after dilating this smelly discharge was literally dripping out my vagina albeit mixed with lube, I'm hoping it's kind of normal but any opinions would be excellent.
Also after dilating I kind of get a pain in what feels like my bowel, essentially I always feel constipated after dilation, is this normal too?
Putting these 2 together obviously I'm a tad worried about having a fistula or something hideous like that, is it obvious if you have a fistula or can it sneak up on you, I always have a habit of overreacting and overthinking things (Yay anxiety!!) anyway any advice, reassurance or words of wisdom would be amazing :) x

I'm 3.5 weeks post op now and yeah the discharge is pungent. However what's coming from the neovagina isn't much different from what I smell in the gauze my surgeon has me lining the sutures so I'm reading this as a mix of healthy vaginal odor and healing - wound exudate.
I'm 100% certain I'm not looking at a fistula, what I'm getting isn't the odor of e-coli. My doc wants me douching 1-2 times weekly with 10% vinegar and I've taken this week to adding the contents of a probiotic capsule to the douche to really work on establishing a normal lactobacillus. I can't say this has materially changed scent which leads me to think there was already lactobacillus getting started down there.

Pink in the discharge sounds like a little blood from dilation, I had that. I would contact your provider about the odor, just to ease your mind. 2 weeks after surgery there is skin and puss and blood that is being discharged. Change your pads and follow your doctors instructions.

All that discharge is normal. It didn't really start to disappear until about 5-6 weeks. Sometimes it gets kinda stringy or comes out in little blobs. Don't be alarmed unless you see a significant amount bleeding.

Welcome to Susan's Place. Bleeding can last 1-2 months and that's the reason why you should purchase pads in the largest box you can find. As for the smell, I check my dilator after every session. Now there is just the smell of the lube however the thing to watch out is the smell of bowels. If you smell that, you have a problem. Unfortunately doctors often don't tell us everything we need to know but most doctors are pretty good about answering questions when they come up. Call your surgeons office with any questions you might have as it's better to be safe than sorry.

This is a common issue faced by the girls I help and also from my experience. The pink color is most likly blood from post op flushing out, nothing to worry about at this stage after surgery.
The cheesy smelly odor, 2 weeks post op, most likely comes from the inner labia minora and clitoris. I suggest you spread the labia minora and you will most likely see some white cottage cheese looking gunk. You have probably not had the nerve to spread and look at this area. I suggest that you take a Qtip soaked in bedidine and clean out this gunk gently, its not toxic. Take a wiff of the gung and it should smell rancid. This is the nomal cause of the odor. If not then start thinking of seeing your doctor.

As others have said, that does sound normal, and the pinkish stuff is probably blood. I had discharge like that for close to a month, and it was definitely worse after dilation (when it mixed with lube). In addition, dilating puts pressure on the bowels - I wasn't used to thinking this way, either, but the dilator is basically being stuffed into a channel that runs directly alongside the bowels. I found that using the bathroom beforehand did help with dilation, but I wouldn't be surprised if the inverse were also true (dilation making the intestines feel/act a little weird).
If you had a fistula, the last symptom you'd have is constipation, as it's basically a hole that makes it impossible to prevent feces from leaking out.
