Hi everyone

This a thread for people going to Rama hotel in July. We should meet and not be lonely during our stay there ;)

I'm coming to Bangkok on July 7 or 8 (I always get confused with time zones and stuff), and getting my surgery one week later.

Anybody else?

We can see who's going for now, and post here once we're there.

I'm getting my SRS on July 14 so I'll probably still be at the clinic when you get there. We can chat during our recoveries then :p

The last days before the surgery will be longest I think :/

I saw a whole lot of cats today, guess they were all hiding on the first day. I also saw other transgirls from a distance but they vanished too fast before I could try and talk to them. Didn't get to mingle yet.

To answer your questions:
You can ask for water at the reception, they will bring a huge ass water bottle to your cottage. I'll see how easy it is to handle and decide if I can use these after the surgery, or if I should buy smaller bottles at the department store.
I came here with a friend who's also getting srs'd, and we had a really hard time finding soup at the store. There were just a few cans stored with canned food. Haven't seen chicken bullion. Most likely we weren't looking at the right place. My experience with buying food in thailand so far is having a hard time finding what I need, and seeing all kinds of stuff that I have no clue what it is.
Some products have their names written in english on the price label, but not all of them.

I can give you some directions when you girls get here. I've met a former Chett patient at the department store and she told me about useful places here.

Let me know when you get to bangkok and I'll tell you where I am.

I met a friendly french girl at the restaurant, finally got to talk with fellows :)

I found the 711, I walked in front of it like a hundred times without noticing it, silly me. I'll go get the last things I need tomorrow.

I had my consultation with Chett today, everything went ok, he is a pleasant person to talk with. The examination takes like 5 seconds, it's nothing to worry about. Be prepared though, it will be done in his office, not in a medical room. The nurse will be here to take a picture. I've been told you can be with Chett only, if you ask nicely.

He gave me all the medication and instruction sheets I need to prepare the surgery. The unfunny part starts tomorrow morning, I won't be able to eat solid food anymore.

So I made a friend at the hotel, she's leaving on 21st but I'm sure there will be more people present to mingle.
The Rama is a lovely place. I love my cottage, recovery should go nicely here.

I'll post more updates later if I have something useful to share with you girls.

The weather is hot and cloudy (july to october is the wet season afaik). The air is very moist so you can wear pretty much anything thin without problems. I've been told you need a couple dresses for after the surgery, especially when you're taken back from the clinic to the hotel. You won't be able to bend to put on pants or skirts.

There's a piece of advice I've read online which I shouldn't have ignored: don't wear sandals. If you go for even a five minute walk you'll come back with your feet all black and it doesn't go away easily. Find thin shoes that cover everything.

I went to the 7-11, still no soup to be seen, plus they don't have labels in english like tesco has. The only reason to go there is to get water 6-packs without traveling all the way to tesco.
I still have the few cans I got from tesco. I bought several bottles of apple juice, they'll replace breakfast I guess. Fruit juice doesn't bring much though.

As advised by my new friend I got several packs of sanitary towels for the night. Those sold by Chett are towels for the day and I've been told they don't cover enough area.

I went to a pizza place that can do delivery to get their brochure but I couldn't be sure I can have someone who speaks english on the phone. This will be a last resort.

That's all for now I think.
I'll make other posts if I have more useful tips to share.

Yes, liquid food doesn't make you feel like you've eaten anything.

I saw that honey is permitted so I gave it a try. It makes the hunger go away for a little while. It's just a short term help.
I found good honey at the 7-11.

It should contain no solid pieces or pulp. When you buy apple juice at the store you have to make sure the label says "dietary fibers 0%". It's written in very small letters somewhere on the packaging. It should be all liquid.

I don't have much reserve either, when I don't eat on time I quickly feel dizzy and lose all energy. I'm still trying honey and it has protected me from that so far. A few spoons keep me up and running for 3-4 hours, it seems more efficient than soup. Bees survive on that after all. But it contains a lot of sugar so it's important to have other food as well, eating lots of sugar tends to not fell good.

The WiFi works fine. It was here everytime I needed it, I heard it went down from time to time but I haven't seen it happen yet. Then again there are 3 or 4 different networks across the hotel, so they may not all have the same quality.

I forgot to mention that earlier: there are two Banks at tesco that will exchange your money for Bahts, but they refused one of my bills because it was just very slightly ripped on a side. The bills need to be intact or they won't take them. Chett says on his website that he won't take bills that damaged or folded or marked or stained; it might be because his bank won't want them. So I suggest you don't fold your bills either.

I was brought back to the hotel this morning.

Everything went well according to Chett, though I'll only see the result on friday.

It wasn't easy to say the least.
If you're coming to Thailand on your own I seriously recommend you make friends at Rama to get support and help. I had people coming to see me this morning and offering support and I couldn't have done without that, cause I was getting so depressed.

After you wake up from the anesthesia and during all your stay at the clinic I recommend you move your legs as often as you can. The nurses told me to keep my legs flat and slightly spread apart, and I haven't moved them at all during my whole stay at the clinic. Then when it was time to go I couldn't move them anymore. My muscles had turned to stone. It took me half an hour of exercise before I could get up from the bed and the pain was unbearable. I've been in pain for the whole morning here and I still have difficulties getting up.

My mood was down this morning because of that, and because of not having had a good meal for so long. Soup really doesn't bring anything. I'm going to progressively start eating solid food again until friday (when they remove the packing) because I'm getting really weak.

The worst memory is having to go down the stairs 5 hours after waking up from GA. This is insane.

For today I don't feel like seeing people other than those who usually visit me, maybe tomorrow you can come over to chat if you want.
Be warned, I look like ->-bleeped-<-.
No shower and no food for 5 days. Tough.

I'll introduce you some cool people though if you haven't met them already.

I just had my consultation with Chett and setted everything, now I'm in my cottage having some rest finally! It's lovely there, also Dr Chettawut I found a very sweet person! My surgery is on Saturday, I'm with my parents by the way, so I'm not alone, but it's always useful to meet people in your same situation :)

If you are referring to Michelle_P's post, you did nothing wrong. We present a copy of the greeting links to every new member we can and we try to do it on their first post. In your case, you managed to evade us for a while before we caught up with you. Unlike many other boards, the moderators have a sense of humor though some are pretty twisted.

The text was quoted to ensure you were aware the the greeting link post was intended for you. We often have to do that when the new member we are greeting is several posts down in the thread.

Sorry for not posting updates for so long.
The beginning of my recovery has been painful and difficult. Don't worry about your recovery though, I think it's often easier.
I'm just beginning to feel better today!

If my state keeps improving I'll start going to the restaurant for breakfast, most likely around 7:30am. The nurse has been coming late these days but I know that she usually comes early in the morning so I think it's a good idea to take the breakfast early. The other transgirls I saw at the restaurant did just that.
I hope I'll be able to do it soon, I'm tired of always staying in my cottage.
