Hello everyone at susans place!!! Im 24 male to female.  I've recently decided to transition again. The first time I ran head long into it and  I didn't pan out well because of everything that was going on on my life.  This time I wanna gain as much knowledge as possible and take nice and slow.  Im starting so far by keeping everything shaved and practicing my voice. It doe sick because I want it all right now.  But I want to be able to pass to my own standards.   I haven't picked a name  yet but Hazel has been beckoning to me.

While im here I wanted some advice on starting out.

-what should my next step be?

-I have sensitive skin and shaving everyday HURTS. Whats another way to get rid of facial hair beside razors.

-when should I talk to a specialist about starting estrogen

The other questions are kinda more intimate so I'll hold off on those

Welcome to Susan's Place. You should start hair removal yesterday. You will find it discussed here (https://www.susans.org/forums/index.php/board,81.0.html) and while there is pain associated with it, at some point it will be gone. For some people laser provides quick and inexpensive treatment but nearly everybody needs at least some electrolysis. A gender therapist might help prepare you for the transition so you don't have a failure like the first time around. HRT could be started at any time however you may need to deal with male fail depending on how feminine you currently are. In my case, development was slow and I didn't appear feminine until I switch hair style and used makeup. There are people on the site who appeared feminine after just a few months. Keep your options open as any plans are subject to change.

Hi, welcome! It's a little weird to be dishing out welcomes, since I'm a newbie myself, lol.

I'm kind of like the least qualified person to be giving advice, but I'm going by my own experiences and what I've personally done.

Well if you're making progress with your voice, that's good. Keep doing plenty of that, because it will help you pass as you get better. Establish a support system. Friends, a confidant, whatever. Having people to talk to lowers the stress and tension in your life dramatically. This is important because a better state of mind makes for an easier transition.

For facial hair, you're going to generally want to go with electrolysis. When the electrologist kills the follicle, if it's done right, the hair's gone for good. It's also not as painful as laser. Laser hair removal is also an option, but is more expensive in the long run and needs to be maintained as it isn't permanent. It also hurts a lot. I had it done and it didn't really work for me personally, but YMMV.

As far as talking to a specialist, that really depends on you and what you want. There's not really any "when", just what feels right for you, but the changes made by hormones may help you pass easier. Just keep in mind that every physician is different. Some will give you hormones right away, while others might want you to make a few appointments with a therapist prior to writing up a prescription. Some may also want to start you on AAs to kill the T before adding the estrogen.

And keep in mind, it's a slow process. Don't expect everything to magically change overnight. The changes induced by HRT may take up to several years to reach their full effect.

Yeah i know no that I need to take it day by day and  be patient this time.  Unfortunately I live in the middle of  Oklahoma where gender therapists are like unicorns so I'll have to do It  online.  I have an amazing support system already and im already pretty feminine and I was graced with a complete lack of body hair everywher except my legs

Hey girl hey! Welcome! I'm new as well. I'm close to your age, 28, and know exactly how you feel dear. Except I've been on hormones before and they are expensive. I miss it everyday tho and if your feminine now as you describe the moment you get on them and are past the wait of the 6-8 month mark, look out world cause you'll be just beautiful I can sense it :) your journey is just beginning and it begins when you want it to!

Hiya! I understand how difficult it feels to have a stop-start experience with transitioning :( I hope you find all the help and support you need.

Your next step and when you should start exploring the eostrogen option depends on your circumstances. I'm glad to hear you already have a good support system! In my experience having regular contact with people you are 'out' to, and especially other trans people if possible, is indispensable.

If you are able to find a specialist in Oklahoma, you may need to speak to them regarding hormones before you necessarily feel ready as that process can take a fair bit of time. The specialist can also then help with other aspects of transition if you need it. Unfortunately I don't know much about doing it online!
