It's been a few years since I've been active on this forum, and several (about 7 or so) since my original introduction, so I figured I should start here upon coming back. I've already refreshed myself on the ToS and Policies and such.
I'm a 28-year-old, 29 in July, guy from Upstate NY (technically FTM, but I identify simply as male). Although I suppose I tried to make my gender clear as a toddler, I officially "came out" as transgender/transsexual in 2011 by way of a Facebook group message, and to very little surprise. I did so prepared to lose some people in my life, but I suppose I was fortunate in that the vast majority of people were largely accepting, with some basically telling me that it was about time. I had a second, more minor coming out in 2013, having started a new job shortly after my announcement in 2011.
As far as transitioning goes, I've always more or less presented male from the time I could choose my own clothes. I started binding in late 2010, though I believe I ordered my first binder in late 2009 or so (it didn't fit, however, so I never wore it); in early 2011, I began packing before purchasing and using my first STP in 2012 in preparation for a backpacking trip. I believe it was in 2012, as well, that I first began taking college courses under the name Noah and with male pronouns, with none of my classmates any the wiser (even after the backpacking trip). My first job working with the correct name and pronouns happened in 2013, and it was while working there that I (finally) began HRT and filed for, and was granted, a legal name change (both in 2014). I now have a license, a bank account, and insurance in the correct name, and was able to start a second degree program this past fall at a new college with only the rare person knowing that I'm not, in fact, a cis male, which has really allowed me to come into my own, so to speak. In fact, even living on campus during the week (though I was incredibly, insanely fortunate to get a single room in an all male suite this past year), more people on campus know that I'm bi than know that I'm trans, which is still only a handful.
At this point, I'm still pre-op, though I have looked into, and have tried to work out a plan for, a couple of surgeries. For now, I have not applied for a legal gender change with the idea that certain surgeries may be easier to get approved/covered while still legally considered female -- I'll probably speak with a more trans-experienced endocrinologist about that, however, given key NYS laws regarding transgender and transsexual health insurance coverage. That said, due to physical requirements in my degree program, it may, unfortunately, still be about a year before I have any done (as much as I would love not having to deal with chest dysphoria and paranoia while in school).
That's...about all that I can think of that's relevant to a re-introduction and where I'm at transition-wise.
