Title: Therapist Issue

Hello, I would like to share this with other trans who might have the same reaction about their therapist. As I was seeking a therapist and found one I thought would be great as she is transitioned all the way. She sent me a text today and informed me that she will be coming over to counsel me. This was due to the situation of not being able to travel to her cause of no transportation available, so she offered to counsel at home with me. But then she informed that it would be about 2-3 sessions at my home and I thought that is a long session. So I informed her that I had already seeked another therapist who I am very comfortable with and he is hetrosexual but very open. And you would not believe what she said back why did you go with a hetro therapist and not a full trans therapist. Of course once again i explained to her that he was local and I could get to his office and the next text was is she trans and what is her name. Now that was just to much to disclose to her since I have a privacy act not to disclose information of whom my therapist is with her. Then I informed her I had a DR I would see outside of my area that I could get too on the city bus transit, but it would take 2 hrs to get at his office. This does not bother me to get out on a nice adventure like that to talk with a DR or I could just go with my own Primary Doctor. Yes, of course she gave a DR's name and wanted to know if that was the DR and I told her sorry that is the not the DR. The last text I got from her was well its your choice and why would you not want too see a trans therapist. So I dropped the conversation since she was getting to personal on wanting to know more information. Would you say something about this therapist asking for personal information of who you are seeing as a therapist and asking for the DR who will prescribe HRT. This leave me kind of leery since I gave her my location of where I live. How would you handle the situation?

She may have just been genuinely concerned that you would get good care.
It's pretty common for professionals to know each other, and asking for the other's name is Ok. But only to ask once, and if you don't say who, then they should drop it. If she kept asking, then that's going too far.
There's no problem if she respects your dropping the matter and leaves you alone. If she contacts you once more after some time, as a follow up to see how it's going, that's OK and pretty normal. Again as long as she then drops it and leaves you alone.
