Title: Wanting to start HRT, but not knowing where to start
Post by: Olivia88 on June 13, 2017, 01:00:59 PM
Hi everyone! Its been a while since I was last on here. A lot has happened! I have come out to trans to a majority of my family and friends and me and my ex girlfriend just broke up recently. We broke up because she knew I was trans and wanted me to be happy. I want to officially start taking hormones, but am having a hard time knowing where to go and who to talk to. I know I am transgender and nothing is going to change that, but I am just wondering if I still need to see a therapist or can I just go straight to talking to an endocrinologist? I live in Orange county and would greatly appreciate any help. I know I should not be in a hurry, but I just would like a good start cause I feel like I am just doing nothing when I could be starting my transition. Thank you!  <3

There are three Orange counties in the United States. If you can locate an informed consent clinic, you can start HRT without a therapist. Otherwise, your options are to locate a Endo who will do informed consent which is rare or locate a therapist who will write a letter to your Endo. Your local LGBT center may be a reference for medical help and it's possible our links section may be able to locate help near you. Googling "location gender therapist" may also turn up somebody near you.
