Title: Going to my sister's now
Post by: MeTony on June 20, 2017, 01:42:36 AM
Soon she will know I'm a guy. I was so calm up until now. I hope I will find my peace again. I have 5 hours drive to her place. Lots of time to think, think over and be determined.

I will talk to her face to face. No texts or letters. I believe irl is the best. Then it's my mom's turn.

And after midsummer's eve I'll tell my husband. I will not ruin midsummer for him.

Good luck.

In my case, a mass emailing was best. That way you can word things exactly right, explain, give background, tell how you feel, edit if needed, then send. No need to shock and confront anyone.

People will then have time to get used to the idea, and think it over before they see you in person.

When I came out to my immediate family (with a mass email) as a nonbinary partially transmale, there wasn't even a murmur from them.

Now they know, and there was no melodrama.

Good luck :). I found an email to be best too; so maybe scribble down what you'd like to cover first. It's important not to get drawn into justifying yourself.

Anyway hope it goes well :)

My sister said. She is not surprised at all. It wasn't so hard to tell her.

She asked me if I am non binary or a man. I said I will ask for a therapist to help me find out.

She said that I have never been a girl. More of a tomboy. There is a huge differance between me an my sister. I've never been into girly stuff.

Glad it went well.  I'm also the kind of person that wants to do these discussions face to face.  I've already told my wife and plan on telling my sisters next when I'm further along in my transition.  I hope things go well when you go and tell your mother.  I think that will be the hardest for me.
