Title: Hello from Texas

Hello, my name is Robyn, or rather that is the name I plan on changing to. First off I'm 41 years old and I live in Texas. I've been married to my wife for 19 years and we have three kids. I have always wanted to be a female since I was around 5 or 6 years old. I kept it hidden pretty much through out my life. I had one girl cousin that was about my age that would let me try on her clothes but other than that no one knew. For the last decade I tried to put out clues to my wife of how I felt. Stuff like shaving my legs and pits or wearing a prom dress to a Halloween get together in public. Guess she never caught on or didn't want to admit it. I thought being caught would have been easier than straight out telling her the truth.
So three days ago I took her into a private part of the house, kinda non-existent with three kids, and finally told her. She was shocked to say the least. She had a million questions. I answered them the best I could. The only part that she was upset about was that I had hidden my feelings for so long. We both don't know how things would be now if I had told her earlier in our relationship. She is staying by my side and for that I have forever grateful. There are things she doesn't want to see, like my appearance. I told her that I will do everything slowly for her. Otherwise I would be scrambling to get started on HRT as soon as possible. She is the only that knows, well except for the ladies here now. My family will be told in time along with hers. My family that will be told is small and I don't see much issue there. Her family is just as small and I think should be supportive.
So my plans are to find a therapist that is local and start there. Maybe find a place that I have laser done to my face and neck. Having 5o'clock stubble by 2pm sucks.
Any way, I'm Robyn and I approve this message.

Hi Robyn, welcome to Susan's Place! I'm from Boston, I served and lived in El Paso for a few years. Sounds like you're off to a good start with your partner on board. Get busy posting and I'll see you around the site!

Congrads Robyn,
Sounds like you and your wife have a great relationship. BTW I am new to this board also and my wife supports me like yours. I just like dressing and she accepts it inside our house and back yard. Have fun. I have been From San Antonio to Sheppard AFB and all places in between in Texas. I'm in SC myself.

Thanks. I just got back from lunch with her and it was nice. It was at her work place so no one knows but me and I felt like talking about some of the stuff but couldn't since she was around co-workers. Oh well there is plenty of time at home when it's just us.
I'll hang around. I'll have plenty of questions when I get to new stages.
Thanks again.

Howdy, Robyn!
Welcome to the site. Your story is familiar. I was married with 3 children, but some 20years older. The kids were adults. In my case, I came out to my wife about 16 months ago, and to the kids shortly thereafter. Alas, for older couples the odds for a happy ending are lower than they are for you.
I wish you and your family the best of luck and hope all find acceptance and the courage to help each other going forward.
I hope you feel welcome here.

Thank you for the links, they were helpful. And also for the warnings, I'll be more careful in my postings. I hadn't planned on going into detail on many things but I will keep that in mind when I post anything.
Glad to be here for the new friends and challenges in my life.

Robyn nice to meet you here!!!! I also spent time in Texas, it took some time to get used to the attitude of "everything is bigger and better in Texas". I loved it there though. I was in Austin and gotta keep it weird! Welcome to the forum!

Texas is different to say the least but I love it here. The heat isn't as bad once you get used to it plus summer clothes are the best clothes.

Robyn,
Thanks for introducing yourself and sharing your story. It sure will be a step by step journey for you, your wife and ultimately your children. Big changes are best made in tiny increments, and it looks like you are on your way.
Looking forward to hearing more about your journey.

Thanks everyone. Since my introduction I've managed to find a transgender therapist in my area and my first appointment with her is Wednesday morning. Just can't wait to get the process going.

Hi Robyn. My story is similar in many ways. I came out at 54. My wife unfortunately could not make the journey with me and we have divorced. I am in San Antonio and have found some wonderful people, support groups and medical care here. I did some research recently and found similar groups in Dallas and Waco. The new laser systems are awesome and worked well for me. If you have light hair or dark skin it doesn't work as well or at all. It also doesn't get the grays. I'm very pleased with my results. I just had my last treatment a couple of days ago and will post a new pic once my face fully heals. Wanda.

Can't wait. I'm glad to hear there are good groups and medical care here in Texas. That's been one of my fears.
