I get weird cravings. I ger cravings for onions, radishes and even jalapeño peppers. I never liked any of those before hrt. I also like eating raw garlic and pickled eggs. And I don't like really sweet stuff anymore. I drink sparkling water now because I want the carbonation but soda is too sweet. And I eat pancakes plain because syrup is way too sweet for me now.

My normal lunch during the week is boiled eggs, seaweed, sauerkraut, sardines, cheese, and summer sausage.  Is that the hormones or am I just weird?

Before starting HRT I was mostly into sweets. Nowadays I crave salty food (especially feta cheese, pastrami, canned tuna and hard boiled eggs with salt & pepper... lol). I suspect that spironolactone is the culprit.

Dang it Deborah, now I SO want sauerkraut!!  ;)

a while back there was a thread about salt and when I read the words "pickle juice" I became instantly hooked. I got out of a relaxing bath because I could just taste the goodness of pickles! I have kept the fridge empty of pickles and hold onto the jars until the brine is gone. Now I'm going to start going after canned sauerkraut!

Protein for me lately has been the main crave aside from pickles that is. Cheese, any cut of meat, milk, beans, I just want more. Also tortilla chips, mmmmmm salty tortilla chips, that's it I'm going to town to get a bag of chips.  :D

I started making my own sauerkraut so I always have a lot.  It's real easy and only requires cabbage, salt, and some mason jars.  Plus I can add other things to taste.  I usually add onions, jalapeños, cilantro, caraway seeds, and daikon.  It all ferments in its own juice and is ready in a week.  It's also really rich in probiotic microbes.

On progesterone, I get cravings for chocolate (dark), fruits (usually those that contain a lot of water) and salty stuff (i.e. pickles, nuts, chips, olives).

I haven't had any cravings per se (not on HRT yet), but I have noticed that I seem to be enjoying foods I didn't care for before (like peaches!). Because of that I've been more willing to try more things. It also helps that one of the people I'm living with now is a gourmet-level cook! Well, helps with my changing tastes, maybe not so much with my waistline...

I crave acid and salty stuff everyday. So I usually eat a sliced mango with lots of salt and lemon, my mouth is watering again just thinking about it (and I just had one). And some crazy fear came to me,what if too much lemon can somehow affect HRT's effectiveness? Anyone knows anything about this?

Since I started on HRT 3 years ago (which includes Spiro) I have been craving, and I mean really craving, SALTY foods... especially dill pickles and green olives.  I also love salty snacks like chips and pretzels... but those are calorie laden and full of fat so I am careful with them.  The good news is that dill pickles are very low calories... not so much with olives.   Almost every other trip to the supermarket I am buying a jar of pickles!!!
